Did you check your bank account? Maybe they didn't get your payment for some reason?
Perhaps you should put your wife in charge of bill-paying? It works well for my husband.

We pay all of our bills using the bill pay from our bank account. I am thinking that maybe the account number is not coded in it correctly. so they are having trouble applying it to our account. maybe?

then the latest story of my anger toward all, Yesterday my eye doctor called in a prescription for some topical cream for me. I had them send it to the CVS near work. I go after work, wait in line for 20 minutes. They don't have it. Then they find it on a pending list. It will take 45 minutes to fill. I say see you tomorrow. I go back today at lunch. They don't have it. They look in the system some more. Oh, it went to the CVS closer to my house. God damn it. I mean, I know the common denominator in all these stories is me. But it doesn't stop me from being pissed off. Not surprised on this one. The doctor usually has just one pharmacy connected with your account. Even if you have the other pharmacy number to give for a prescription, odds are the doctor's office defaults to what is in your records.

That could be, but if they've been getting your payments all along it's not likely. IME, whenever there's a problem with account # or address Chase does a stop payment on the transaction and sends me an email, about 2 weeks after I authorized the payment, so it takes them a while.

DH and I are BOTH on the deed for our home and on our mortgage. *Our* mortgage got sold. The new mortgagor refuses to recognize me and refuses to talk to me. We're all damned to die from strokes caused by dealing with incompetent customer service morons. Sorry, that's just wrong. Probably sold to a religious mortgage company who feels its against its religion to recognize wives as homeowners.
I'd write whatever state or federal agency to complain.
The way the bank explained it to me is that it is not my bank account. Therefore, I cannot make any changes to another person's bank account. Only the person(s) listed on the account can make changes. My name was taken off years ago, but I or they missed the line of credit. It makes sense on the surface.

Sorry, that's just wrong. Probably sold to a religious mortgage company who feels its against its religion to recognize wives as homeowners.

No, it was my account that was imported, not hers. She was already a Regions customer. I thought it was taken care of years before but had no way of knowing that it wasn't until Regions bought my AmSouth accounts. It was always there. I don't know that there is a way to go "above" them since they have explained that there is a simple way to take care of the problem. My daughter just has to go into any branch and close this line of credit. Her failure to do so is not the bank's problem but mine. She is too busy. I actually understand that dragging the kids to the bank with her to take care of this just isn't a priority for her. She's not overdrawing or anything. I just want it closed. The last one will be in school in four-and-a-half more years. I just brought it up because it illustrates the same problem that Archie is having getting information on "his" account, which is really only his wife's account as far as the utility is concerned.

I just blatantly LIE to customer service. What are they going to do, sue me? I called for my mother in law on one of her accounts and got the privacy BS. She can not talk to them anyway since she is in memory care. So I just wait a few minutes, call back, get a different rep, and when they ask for my name I tell them I am "Janice". Of course, I am a 66 year old MALE. They never said a thing and I took care of the issue. ( As her POA I have all her info, SS#, passwords were created by me, DOB, etc, etc) I have done the same on financial accounts. With Time Warner, when my mom moved out of her house, I closed the account on the phone, pretending to be my dead father whose name was still on the account. I than took the box back to Time Warner and figured I had it made since the name on the account was my dad's name and mine is the same, so I have ID, etc, under that name. Of course they would not take the box back because the "equipment" was under my "mom's" name, so even though my name (my dad's name) was on the account they needed to have her bring the stuff in, in person. I just told them well, she is dead, (she was not) so here is your box, do whatever you want, took a photo of the box label and my sister standing next to it at their customer service counter, and left it there on the counter. Never heard a word after that. I have been, my wife, daughter, mother, mother-in law, father, father-in-law, on various phone calls and never had a problem. Of course, I do actually have POA for each of them and know all their information to answer the security questions they ight throw at me. It is just so STUPID and easy to get around all that security BS if you have the right info. My DH handled all of his father's affairs for the last few years before he passed away. He would call the CC company fairly often (my FIL lost his card regularly) and try to do things the "right" way. Hi, I'm J and I'm calling about O's card. I have POA for O and need to get this card canceled and a new one sent." 99.9% of the time it didn't work. The customer services reps didn't know what a power of attorney was, had no clue how to handle it, even when FIL would get on the phone and authorize DH to speak for him. It took me YEARS to convince DH to just call and say he was FIL. Of course we had all the info, and O was always with us when we were calling, but finally he'd just call as though he was FIL. It was SO.MUCH.EASIER! My DH and I have different last names. Lots of times I call places for him and say I'm Flaming DHlastname to just get things taken care of easier. It doesn't always work, but if even 1 time out of 10 it makes things go more smoothly, it's so worth it!

As I have gotten older I really dont care anymore about telling a lie to customer service. BUT......I am NOT advising anyone to do this sort of thing unless you have the RIGHT to do so, like a POA, and In my case I have the permission of the person who I am pretending to be. (or they are a dead parent)
Be sure to turn on the privacy settings on your phone. The majority of times I have lied has been for parents or in-laws that can no longer handle their affairs and for whom I handle all their business anyway. I pretended to be my mother when calling VA. Medicare sent me a form for her to sign so I could talk with them. My mother could hardly speak much less handle some of the stuff. Just easier that way. My son is going to have to sound girlie at some point when he has to do this stuff for me. But hope I have stuff in place for it but something always goes wonkie with the best laid plans.

On all of my parents joint accounts, there reached a time when they couldn't handle them any more. Mom told me to call and pretend to be her as we didn't live in the same city or state. Now that she is gone, it isn't as easy as I don't sound like dad.
He has no credit cards and has sent in written authorization to his former employer where I spent hours on the phone in December and January getting one of his benefits straightened out. He can't hear and would never have comprehended what they were saying and all of the transferring of the calls. I was keeping track of the answers because I was getting different answers with every customer service rep I spoke with.
Now everything from that company comes to me and I deal with it.
He still pays his own bills. He has so few that he can handle that. Just his rent, phone, meals on wheels and his newspaper every six months. Makes him feel good that he writes those checks. Anything out of the ordinary, he has me write the checks and he signs them--even though I have signature authority on the account.

Once I called and canceled ISO's credit card. It was before cell phones and he was in California driving a semi. He got robbed and had to deal with getting a copy of his drivers license and police report and asked me to cancel a stolen card. I called and they didn't want to do it said have him call. I explained he might not call me a again for a few days and the crooks have the card. I happened to know his security stuff like his mother's maiden name so they did it. When he needs to talk to his broker he will call then tell them to talk to me and hand me the phone so I can tell them what he wants. If you need someone of the other gender just have them call and authorize you to speak for them.

DH is hard of hearing. We do the thing where he talks to the representative and authorizes me to speak with them on his behalf. Amex and Verizon, though, made me the account manager on his accounts. He could access them, of course, as the account owner. But I could access the accounts without him being present as account manager. I just closed his Costco Amex when I was closing mine.

So I decided to get a money order and pay off this stupid thing today. I called up the collection agency to get the current payoff amount. Apparently the collection agency has written it off and it went to another collection agency. She gave me a number to call them. It is a fax number. It keeps beeping in my ear. This will probably show up as another delinquent account on my credit. What a pain this is.
