Whether you are a Republican or a Democrat, I am asking the two following questions:
If John F Kennedy was a junior Senator running for the nomination this year, would he win the nomination? Would he win the fall election?
Based on the current Democratic contenders, I think he would have been out after Iowa. Has the Democratic party gone that far left to think that he could not possibly win the Presidency just 45 years later?
I was in Junior High when he ran and won. I was not political at the time, but do remember being sincerely upset when he was assassinated my second year of high school. I felt it was a loss for the country, but then maybe major media just made us believe in Camelot I think it is a shame we do not have a contender on either party, who actually represents what middle America wants. I understand some here will say my definition of middle America is not there's or even a real feel of the definition, but to have both parties hijacked by the fringe element is so sad to me. It is not the direction I want for the country from either side of the political spectrum.

winning candidates are creatures of time.
i am not convinced that any candidate that won in the past could win today.

I don't think Kennedy could stand the media looking into every text, every tweet or FB post today.

He was still a good President, although some would scour him for the Cuba invasion and Bay of Pigs.

I think the Republican leaders would roll their eyes and call Kennedy a fringe right wing lunatic today. Not to mention what the democrats would think of him.

Kennedy was too middle of the road for today's all or nothing partisans which is EXACTLY what I hate in today's system.

You're married!?!? Yes Dub. That's pretty much what having a wife entails.

I agree with Beth. The extra marital affairs all the Kennedy boys engaged in would have been wonderful tabloid fodder.
Either that or someone would have investigated how his dad made his millions and found some skeletons in that closet.

Sorry VB. If there's anything sadder, I don't know what it is. Well maybe...
