There were several articles about this last summer floating around - camp for adults. Basically it's a long weekend where you get to do everything kids at camp do but there's no counselors and booze!
I never went to camp as a kid so this sounds like a blast to me. Campfires, water sports, games, booze, people my age? Sign me up!
There's a couple companies out there that do it, but I think I like Camp No Counselors the best.
Now to decide where to go - anyone want to make it a ym thing?

The dates are in May, June, Sept and October. There's one like an hour-ish from where I live and another an hour-ish from where my parents summer so they could drop me off at that camp! Lol!
That's about as far as I've gotten. Oh and they're in the 500-600 range with 25 off for four or more people.

I went to camp every summer from age 8 to 11 or 12. I loved it well except for the time got redbugs/chiggers. Just be sure and do research and if possible check out reviews of camps you are considering - you know Jason and all that Go for it and had a kickass good time Dang, now I am off to see if anyone offers this in my neck of the woods.

To me camping is sleeping in a tent, fishing, drinking, campfire that you cook over, etc. I can do that for far less than $500 and if you got enough people going for less than that per person or even per couple you could probably rent a pretty nice house. That said if tent/RV camping isn't your thing and you went to summer camp as a kid (I didn't) I could see how something like this might be appealing.

You know that thing parents send kids off to for a week or more where they swim, canoe, make crafts, learn to wakeboard, go through a ropes course, etc etc. I didn't go to camp as a kid and it looks like a fun time. The slip and slide flip cup race almost makes it worth it by itself. Lol And, well, not all of us have ten friends that we could rent a house with for a long weekend to do a lot of things.

No I don't know because like I said, I didn't go to camp . Furthermore nor did anyone I grew up with but that's probably more a function of where we live. I understand the concept I just wouldn't spend that kind of money for myself to go. To send my kid to a regular summer camp to get them out of the house and my hair I definitely would. Played plenty of flip cup, beer pong and other drunk games at parties in high school and college for the cost of beer. We still play games on the 4th and other occasions that bring everyone together. I'm not trying to on it because I'm sure there's a market for it and to each their own but when I see $500 per person for that amount of time I think of other vacations or trips I'd rather take. Edit - you don't necessarily need ten friends to rent a house. We go to the mountains during the holidays and there's 3 families that generally go staying for 3-4 nights totaling less than $1,000 for the rental during busy season. There's houses/rentals of all sizes pretty much anywhere you look and we've rented places on our own or with multiple families.

It's not necessarily just about traveling on the cheap to me it's how can I spend that $500 per person while traveling. For $600 per person we spent 5 nights in Mexico at an all inclusive resort and that included airfare. We're heading off to Hawaii for a week and when you look at cost per day our airfare, lodging and rental car come about to about $140 per day per person. I realize depending on where you live those may not be options but getting somewhere else may be. Staying in hotels generally isn't cheap unless you're in a rundown one or you get a great deal. We start by figuring where we want to go then look into VRBO, airbnb and any hotel deals in the area. We went on a 3 day cruise which included food and purchasing the drink option was $135 per day.
Edit - it sounds like it's fun it just evidently isn't for me. I have no doubts a ym get together would be a blast.

But it's not just the cost. There's a local group that does an annual booze cruise. It's to the same crappy port we probably won't even get off at (though it also goes to the private island) on an old ass boat. Why are we going for the second year? Because it's really fun to meet up with 200 or so people that live near us and hang out for a weekend.
I think being able to go somewhere where everyone there is there to do the same things as you can be really fun. Yea an all inclusive place for two people can be fun, but 100 people playing capture the flag is a different kind of fun.

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out. I loved camp as a kid and always said I would want to go as an adult. Forget having to deal with navigating foreign streets or standing in line for rides... I want to swim, have a campfire, ride horses, a rest hour after lunch , with the added bonus of booze, even better! I know it's not for everyone but it sounds like fun to me I also wanted to do Family Camp, where the kids and dog could come, too

I'm old enough to want somewhat decent. The facilities, cabins, and food were perfect for a teenage boy. An adult would have to go to that camp expecting kid-style accommodations. I mean, for example, if 2 campers want to hook up or if a couple of SOs want some alone time, the only choice seems to be behind a tree. (Keep an eye out for poison ivy!!). Cabins of long rows of single camp cots aren't really conducive to romance.

Kinda makes me a little concerned, but I hoped there's not many exhibitionists in the world combined with a bit of thinking adults aren't as crazy as teens. Lol!

Id like to. My March and April are going to be chaotic and very expensive. May I probably will still be paying it off but by June I should be fine. Last June I wanted to celebrate my birthday but with all that had happened with DH I just wasn't into it. This year I'd like to do something to celebrate that I survived another year.

Is it a singles thing, or can one bring their spouse? Is it old folks friendly?

According to the website the only age restriction is 21+ because of the booze. The average age is 30 but they've had from 24-42 from their website. They say about half the campers come with significant other the other half couples. But it is all open bunk sleeping so it's not like the couples have a room to themselves. And I know in at least a few that I checked the bunks are single gender.

I thought you said there was no booze? But who cares...
I went to summer camp as a kid for six years, and had a blast...some of them are still my friends.
Would I do it now, not really sure one way or another?
But it was age appropriate and fun. Follow you bliss.

There's booze. Bloody Mary's and Mimosas for breakfast. Wine and beer for lunch. Starting at happy hour until the end of the night full open bar (liquor, beer, wine). No alcohol during the two activity blocks right after breakfast and lunch though. Which is kind of a duh - a bunch of drunks doing archery is an insurance nightmare!
