put in a couple more apps last night. Got a rejection back from BASF already. They are the chemical company who told me I was too relaxed during my interview. Yeah, they are head cases but the company and benefits are amazing. I still don't get that. Unless you were wearing cut offs, belching and calling the interviewer "bro" how exactly can you be too relaxed in an interview? It went really well. They said I interviewed very strongly, guess the million job interviews I went on in 2015 weren't for nothing. There are two positions but he said they do have A LOT of candidates because it is a "trainee" position. He encouraged me to apply for the other postings if I didn't get this one. I want this one this is a position that would get me out of academia and not have me without a salary while spending 12 weeks going thru a program to get the license. Since histotechnologist programs are few and far between they still do an "apprentice" type set up that is going by the way side in a lot of other clinical science positions. This position would have me ideally as a trainee for a year and then I can test to become a full licensed histologist. If a histotechnologist position opened up I'd me moved into that then. If it did not he said they would still keep me with the same title I would not lose my position which is something I was worried about given it is a "trainee" position. I'm the last candidate they are interviewing this round. Which is good I will be fresh in their minds at least

The one dude in the room was a total beyotch, even though that position wasn't even reporting to him.

I have ZERO desire to own a yoga studio. I would not mind teaching maybe 1-3 classes a week while working FT and maybe up to 4-5 in retirement. That desire has really nothing to do with earning money... it's more like, I love this thing and would love to share it with others. Yoga has been my "therapy" for a few years. It has helped to center me, strengthen me, and help me to realize that living within each moment is a beautiful thing. If I can share how it makes me feel with other people in the hope that they get the same result, then I'm happy. If I make money doing it, that's a bonus. Check your park and recreation office in the city to see if they offer classes. You can teach 1 or 2 a week or more if it's popular - its just one hour each and the teachers get to keep at least 60 - 70% of the fee. one of my school mommies teaches a yoga class or two at the local YMCA branch.

I always wanted to do a yoga cert on the side too. There was one school close to home but looking in depth the guru had some sexual misconduct with a trainee that the school wrote up a huge blame the victim piece on.
So I stopped going even for the occasional class.

Only "downside" to this job was the hours. 5:30 am and 7:30 am. However now that DH works a normal schedule that's not the end of the world. Plus it would save on after school care for Gwen and I'd have at least part of the day to schedule crap I'd otherwise need to take off work for.

Good luck drama, keeping fingers crossed for you.
Jen: are you re-writing your resume, adjusting it for each particular job or are you sending the same one over and over?
As for us: my wife accepted the job this morning, 13k/year raise, double the company match in 403b...
We had a conversation last night, will post more about that another time.

I finished analyzing my data late yesterday. Hopefully I can finish the results write up this weekend and send to advisor.
I was writing it up as I went along except for the last two rqs, so nearly done, just first draft level. I expect about 3 go rounds with advisor before okayed.
Maybe I should also update methods as I had to tweak some procedures, but I do want to submit something on results to advisor asap for feedback...guess I'll see how far I get, then decide on revamping methods.
I have some written up in discussion and conclusion, very rough and incomplete. But better than a blank page!
I still need some lit review work too do to dropping some rqs from original proposal....
but this is happening. Really happening. Baring catastrophe, I'll finish this semester and defend early spring semester.

are you re-writing your resume, adjusting it for each particular job or are you sending the same one over and over? I completely re-did my resume a few months ago and I am very happy with it. When I apply to jobs, I do try to make a tailored cover letter for each position. The last 3 for BASF I did get lazy and changed only the position name. It's hard after working a full day to come home and craft 3-4 well-done cover letters. Making a good one can be a 20 min long endeavor (or longer). Maybe I need to save all my applications for the weekend when I have more energy/time.

My wife can take up to an hour, I was more like you 20-30 minutes once I had a good base/foundation. But it pays off, you get pass the initial screening more often where you dan meet with "real" paper and make an impression.

I can't help you with commute cause everyone has to do it at some point, it's sucky though. I wish you both tons of positive luck.

Speaking of resumes a PSA to all those filling out electronic applications, always check every box before you hit "submit". I was focused on making sure my job descriptions were up to date. I did not check the education box and apparently somehow I managed to delete Simpson, leaving only my associates from IWCC. Yeah that was an interesting conversation. They believed me fortunately.

Yes double check those boxes. I had to wait for my promotion to my current grade level. I missed checking the box that said I had a year's experience at the prior level. Even though I had to also include my most recent personnel form showing my grade it didn't matter. I had to wait until they could post it again.

Fortunately the job only requires an associate so I made it thru.
I need to go back and update. He said he will be posting at least two more in teh not so distant future and encouraged me to apply for those too.

so I came in today to find out that the head of supply chain "resigned" effective immediately. we had a fuckup of major proportions this week related to supply of equipment we need in order to make our product. our next lot is delayed almost a month now because of it.
so that's interesting. nobody else quit today, but it was one guy's last day. I haven't gotten a response back from the recruiter for the really short commute job, but I did send a note back to the consulting firm to say that I hadn't yet had an in-person interview, but that we're also in a holding pattern here while we wait to find out what's going on with our site. so there's still time. I think the 6h interview place really wants to throw me an offer, but it sounds like they haven't interviewed anyone else yet either. plenty of time to consider things.

Is it possible to ask for some of that time off for yourself, or is it too early/late? I need to address it with my boss tomorrow. I have 11 days PTO left, I can use 3 each week (+ 2 day off) and work Saturday - Sunday when my wife is home. Or if he is willing: work double on both days or one of those days this way everyone does not have to sacrifice a day on my behalf. I already arranged the schedule in my head : he would be off Wednesday and Sunday, the other co Friday and Saturday (got to make it worth it for her); my dairy manager covers both Wednesday/Friday (no trucks) and I am there Saturday/Sunday. I can stop in during evenings to tie up some loose ends etc. All he need to do is approve it.

Is it really a very bad idea to text your manager and ask if you would get fired or brought up on assault charges if you beat the shit out of a coworker? This jackwad is really finding my last nerve. I know they are building a case for firing him but they aren't moving fast enough!!!!!!!!! If I find his ass in my chair again I'm going to kick him in a few painful places. Of course, that means I would need to wear shoes. Crap.
