They won't be at zero forever. They will be for the next 18 months and I will re-assess then. No plan is perfect, this one happen to work for me and I am ok with it! Relax ma, I got this It just worries me. But it is your call.

I found out I was pregnant on a Friday evening and had to quit my job on the following Monday. You know she will want a designer crib and all the trimmings. How are you going to pay for all that without her salary?

Transcripts found and verified, which is why I got 2 copies. I wasn't sure about the classes in my maiden name.
Resume is as good as its going to get. Emailed it to my work address so I can upload it at work tomorrow and fill out whatever else they're asking for. And no, that is NOT an issue for anyone in my dept as it's internal job hunting. And I'm hauling all my old paperwork with me tomorrow, just in case!

Taking a rest before going back outside to clean up our flower beds...

I found out I was pregnant on a Friday evening and had to quit my job on the following Monday. You know she will want a designer crib and all the trimmings. How are you going to pay for all that without her salary? 1- I have access to funds to pay off the credit card if I want to do so, I have said that from the get go. I just feel more comfortable having the cash on hand, even if it is invested in the market... 2- My wife currently nets $815 every 2 weeks, just putting the student loans on forbearance would basically cut our monthly expenses by that much. I can cover the rest on my income. 2a) I can pull about ~30k and either pay off the credit cards and lower bills by ~600/month or pull out enough to cover the payment for 12 months or ~$7,800. 3- if she is not working she is not getting it; and the plan is "baby registry" anyway. We probably get most of everything that way!

Found a couple more dairy jobs and encouraged DH to apply for them. I told him he should look at the list of jobs I've applied for here at UNMC going back to 2006. Just b/c you didn't get one position doesn't mean you won't get another. Unless you want to work in fast food or be a telemarketer there isn't a whole lot in Omaha. Where the hell are all these employers that need employees so bad that according to Ricketts you must apply for five DIFFERENT employers every week you are on UE? I haven't seen five different employers in months. It's the same ones spewing their ads all over the place. It's crazy you'd think they would limit how many times they can post an opening. You'll go to a category completely unrelated to telemarketing and there they are taking up three pages.

Is this making him rethink the "stay here" stance?

NJ used to be 3 a week but I don't think it had to be different employers so you could apply for more than one job at the same employer. they also had exception of your area, either job market or geographical, didn't have that many jobs available. I know my area winter is a dead time. There just isn't much to apply for during the winter.

Is this making him rethink the "stay here" stance? Not really. I got a pretty solid job and it isn't like my field is overflowing in other areas of the country. Plus we have been counting on family A LOT right now. Which I know is a YM sin we should be pulling ourselves up by our bootstraps and moving half way across the country with a pocket full of dreams. But having family so close by to help out has been a huge help. 97Beach I have no idea what you do if you can't find five employers. I guess you lose that week of unemployment. There was a full article about it in the paper with people losing weeks b/c of the new requirement but the state's stance is people aren't trying hard enough. I also read that they will make you re-train if you can't find a job. I know they encouraged me to apply for jobs in Lincoln and Blair. They couldn't understand why I wouldn't want to drive out to Lincoln for jobs that pay $10/hr. How about the fact I live in Iowa? If I am going to do that I might as well drive to Des Moines and at least not have to deal with the stupid state of Nebraska anymore.

I was talking to another employee over the weekend and he's looking for another job too. This place has crazy turnover and now I know why. I really wish someone had told me this before I came here. I would have looked a little harder before committing to this place. Oh well. I have made some really good friends here. So I guess I can't complain too much.

Dear employer, why do you have these huge multipage online spplication forms? I've spent more time than I expected on this and I'm only now getting to the precious job experience, which is also on the resume you expect me to scan in. What's the point of both? And I guess I need to track down my CompTIA certifications too. sigh, Beth

That's what we are planning on doing this summer, and the main reason we made that decision is because the biotech industry is a real mess right now. You guys should definitely stay put as long as at least one of you has a stable job. I have been browsing the job listings in the town we are moving to, and it looks like the best approach to finding a good job there will be to emphasize my customer support and management experience, instead of my science background. I am glad that my SO has a more practical skill set.

I know I haven't posted in here much since taking my new job last summer, but I had to share some excellent news - our raise/bonus info was released today. I'm getting a 2.9% raise and an over $5k bonus (pre-tax) for only being here half of 2015. I'd like to reiterate, since I haven't said it lately, but this was the best move I could have made for myself at this time. ETA: that raise is more than I got if you add up the final 3 review cycles at my last job, and I got boned on my bonus b/c the director overrode my outgoing supervisor. uh, yes. I think I'll stay here a while.

Part of the pain of my application crap is that the City requires starting and ending salaries for every job I enter into the system. So I've been backtracking and it's damn depressing. I'm back to 2001. And I need y o contact CompTIA y o find out if they're as be to produce copies of my certifications.

I am glad that my SO has a more practical skill set. My coworker's wife couldn't find a bench scientist position so she went into regulation. Apparently there's a lot more demand on that side? She had no trouble finding another position in any case when she got tired of the hours at her first one. I've often thought that Drama might do better retraining as a finance type in her (haha) spare time. Like Supernanny for people who have trouble with their spending. A decade or so on YM has to count for something as far as training, right?

So had my first day at the new job. Much slower pace than the last job. I think I can adjust, but it seems a bit disorganized. Not sure how much of that I can change.

I heard last night, the first of my employees at old company is leaving. She hasn't found job yet, but her husband has his dream job offer, so they are going to be moving a couple hours away. She said they hadn't discussed it because she didn't want to leave me. But the day I told her about me leaving, he applied since they weren't tied to the area. I told her he's should have applied anyway because she never owes anyone anything. She's young, so it' been a learning experience for her. She's staying for about a month while her and her dh arrange the logistics.
Yeah, I'm kind of laughing. But I'm happy at least one is getting out. I'm sure the others will follow soon.

It is quite amusing watching the employees drop like flies after you leave. And it has to make you feel good that one only stayed for you, even if you think she shouldn't have.

And I just hit "send" on my job ap. Oh my God. Deep breaths Beth. Deep breaths.
I expect to be contacted about real transcripts as I scanned my open set in and uploaded them. But I bet they're going to want a virgin set, which is the other reason I ordered two copies.
I may have to get better copies of the CompTIA certs too. But I'll deal with that if/when they bring it up. It looks like a LinkedIn profile would resolve that. Otherwise it's a few weeks to get new kits from CompTIA. I'm gonna wait to hear back from HR before I worry about that.
Job aps are officially being accepted until just before midnight on Friday the 11th. I think I need to go buy new dress pants and I need to check on shoes for interviewing in.
And start worrying over interview questions. Need to get good paper for handing out of resumes at interview too.

DH is at his 2nd interview today. Happened to runs across a mutual friend earlier who said he'd be great at this job. Let's hope the agency thinks so too.
