It would be interesting if we knew how many negative tweets were made by human beings on the planet in regards to Rampling's comments.

I just dislike seeing her doing it to help mommie politically. She is not a member of the Actors Guild whereas Rampling is, and she knows a little about the black white angle in movies. It took her decades to earn her nomination. I think this is first nomination. Sometimes, the truth hurts but is still true. I admit I do not know if Rambling is correct, but I do know politics when I see it.

I can't give you a number but I can tell you Twitter was alive with negative comments concerning Rampling. I figure (not being wired to the political with every pore of my body) Chelsea might simply have been expressing her views on the subject. Plenty of people were doing just that. Chelsea is as entitled to an opinion as anyone else and is just as entitled to voice that opinion. If someone else wishes to politicize it, that's on them. I realize I have no way of knowing why people do, or say the things they do or say. I don't live in their heads.

I never tweeted in my life, but see tweets all the time on the computer. Most tweets are asinine. The proof is just how many try to get their dumb one deleted before someone screen saves them and use them against them

You learn who to follow and who to ignore. When you don't use it at all, you don't really understand how it works.

By the way, VB - are you going to start a thread because Jeb Bush released a video of his mommy, Barbara Bush, commenting on Jeb's qualities to be president and speaking negatively about Donald Trump? Should mommy be helping sonny's campaign? Trump: Jeb ‘needed mommy to help him’

"Now she is using the Oscar discussion as a wedge issue to help mommie with the black vote."
One thought about the above statement: Donald Trump has created wedge issues by making Mexicans/Hispanics and Muslims (among others) the bad guys to get the white and Christian vote.

Why does anyone, including black people, even give a shit about award shows? The awards are basically bought and paid for, it has nothing to do with talent or skill.

So, you are comparing Chelsea to the Donald? She is not actually running for anything, just helping out momma. Now the Donald, is a different story. He called for a temporary stop to allowing Muslims in until the failed American government agencies can actually figure out how to do their jobs correctly. As far as illegal Spanish American aliens, whether Mexican, Salvadoran, Guatemalan, in the country illegally, whether they are rapists, drug pushers, dealers, etc, or just "good people" here illegally, they should not be here due to the legality of the laws in place. If legal Spanish Americans have a problem with that, they cannot look at theirselves in the mirror, in good counsious. If honest legal Spanish American

I didn't even know about it and I spend a good deal of time on Twitter. Things like that just don't show up on my timeline and I sure wouldn't search for it. If something stupid shows up a quick Block and all is well again.

Really do not have to look for them, All cable news stations go after politicians and celebrities for stupid tweets and show them to America

You're seeing more of it than I do. I'm very discerning in what I read and whose tweets I read and respond to, or send on to others who might be interested. Tweets do show up on various news sites but I rarely read them.

I highly doubt K-mart hired employees who don't speak English to work the cash register. More likely they cashier is bi-lingual. If Frankel was being a b!tch, maybe they just didn't let her know they speak English.
I am so used to people speaking Spanish around me, I just go ahead and talk to people in English. Usually there is someone in the group that speaks English. I agree with the people that commented on the article - she is being Racist, and deserves the negative publicity she is getting.
As far as the Oscars go, I agree that it is not realistic that there were no people of color that should have been recognized two years in a row. I am glad the people who run the Oscars, are responding with steps to change their nominating committee to make it more diverse to try to combat the problem.
Are they bought and paid for - idk, I am not a TV watcher or a Moviegoer, so it is really not an issue I find too relevant in my life. I am more concerned that Politicians are bought and paid for (by corporations) and do not represent the people.

Should non-English speaking, legally residing in the U.S. people need to learn conversational English before they can seek work?

Should non-English speaking, legally residing in the U.S. people need to learn conversational English before they can seek work? IDK, should a person moving to a country where a large majority of people speak a certain language probably learn the language or should a person expect people in that country cater to them not knowing it? I'm not sure the right answer to the question; I do suspect that if an American went abroad and expected others to know English, many of the same people arguing that we shouldn't expect people coming here to know the dominant language would argue those same Americans are being stupid to expect people in other countries to cater to them. OTOH, I also suspect that many of the people who would go abroad and expect citizens in other countries to speak English, even if it is not the dominant language, would also be some of the same people who complain that people here should learn to speak English. So it's a double-standard all around.

In a world where people seem to be looking for any way to be offended, I can see why there is a response to the what the actress said...but at the same time, to say that the only reason "no people of color" were recognized for the last two years is because of their skin color is pretty equally as offensive; especially when you consider that the people you are accusing of if are probably pretty liberal and there is a hint of "you better pick somebody to meet a diversity requirement" mentality with the uproar over it. So next time, I guess they better make sure they boot somebody off the list to meet the requirement or else prepare to be accused to being racist!

So in your opinion, only Republicans are driving a wedge between people? I hardly think CHelsea Clinton is creating a wedge issue and trying to gain the black vote for her mother. American blacks have voted majority Democrat since at least 1964. But if you are going to start a thread about the daughter of a presidential candidate speaking her mind, then you should also start a thread about a mother of a presidential candidate speaking her mind.

I will ask again-must non-English speaking legally admitted citizens be allowed to seek employment in the U.S.even if at that time of employment they do not speak English? Or should they simply live off of government assistance. I personally would prefer they pay their own way through working a job and pay taxes. But that's just my opinion.

Why does anyone, including black people, even give a shit about award shows? The awards are basically bought and paid for, it has nothing to do with talent or skill. Winners see a huge jump in the amount they are paid. Especially for the Oscars, to a lesser degree for other award shows. Blocking anyone out of winning Oscars is a way of enabling the wage disparity.

Missed the part about living off assistance. They should not be on any form of assistance. If they're not capable of supporting themselves, they need to return to their country of origin.
