I've been MIA for quite some time. Things have been busy with my move, and while it is settling down some it is still chaotic. In mid December got my official acceptance for my masters program along with a notice that I had to take a math placement test instead of being able to use my 15 year old precalc class. I spent a week in Reykjavik, Iceland with my sister and her family over Christmas, and returned to a frenzy of studying. It turned out that the placement test was much easier than the refresher material I was using so I decided to go ahead and start with calc 1 instead of redoing precalc. I'm really glad I made this decision now because the classes are turning out to be very easy. Part of this is because the professor is an engineer, not a mathematician, but I won't rest easy until after the first test and I can confirm that he is teaching us what we need to know. I was prepared to have to continue refreshing my skills, but so far it hasn't been necessary thanks to the work I already did. I'm learning to program in C#, and our computer labs are focused on game design. I don't particularly care for game design, but my brother in law tells me it could help me land a job at one of the many game companies in the area. I plan to start an internship this summer. My departure from Germany was a big let down. I was so busy with school stuff, and DH was struggling with the army every single step of the way to get what he needed so I could get my plane ticket. I ended up getting the ticket 36 hours before flying, and we couldn't get a vet appointment so that I could bring one of the dogs with me. I ended up not being able to do many of the things I wanted to do as a farewell. I'm staying with my sister, and her house is in upheaval because she is in the process of buying a house. Closing dates have changed so many times, but I should be helping her move next week. Of course the people shipping my car emailed me yesterday to say it is through US customs (only took 3.5 weeks to get here from Germany), but no word on when I will get the car from the port. So I had to send them two possible addresses for delivery. My rental is scheduled to go back on Saturday, and hopefully, I should know today whether I have to extend it or if maybe I will get my car today or this weekend. I am only 4 hours from the port, and hoping that I will be the first delivery since most likely the trucks will be going through Atlanta to get to most other places. But the MLK holiday might throw a monkey wrench in things. I haven't started looking for a house yet. I've been helping my sister pack, and wanting to make sure I had a handle on classes. I got a cell phone with verizon and already had my first go at customer service to get an issue resolved. I've still been helping DH with things like setting up the appointment for his truck to be detailed. It will ship on Tuesday, and in a strange twist, DH's mom gets a call from toyota saying he can bring the truck by to have it checked out. We have fought with them for 5 years about things wrong with that truck, and just spent 2k on it which didn't completely fix the problem. What a coincidence that they called, but as soon as we can unload that truck we are and we will never buy toyota again. My car has to go to the honda dealership over those exploding airbags. Hopefully I can get mine replaced, and then I'll have to get new tires. We've saved a bunch of money to prepare for this, but the spending has been fairly steady. I know it will get worse when DH gets home. He wants to go all over the country visiting people just because everyone is inviting him, but I want him to start his VA paperwork so it can be finished before he starts hiking the Appalachian Trail. Oh and I just had a birthday so now I'm 34

Whew! I need a nap just reading it. HB and hope things settle down soon. May I say as a math nincompoop how cool it is about you and calc?

Welcome back!!
And breathe, just breathe...
And have your DH take a look at the Real Hiking Viking page on Facebook. He is a vet who has been hiking off the war all over this country for a few years. He is, at this very moment, doing a North to South hike on the AT. Yes, I typed that correctly. He left Baxter State Park about a month ago and is well into New Hampshire now. The pictures are just breathtaking and the stories compelling. Your DH will definitely get psyched reading the posts!!
Now, get back to studying. We are expecting good grades, missy!!!! ;-)
