I'm terrified I'll think it sucks being moved back to Victorian times. I don't think I will, but I'm weird. I do know I'll just be mad that there's only one.

I'm not a big fan of Andrew Scott (Moriarty), so I'll be terrified if I have to look at him for long on the big screen. ("Money, BURNT!") I'm into the special for the period concept.

I like his Moriarity, but I haven't heard of him being in it. I was/am a big fan of the original world and had never watched any version until this one. I caught it accidentally and loved it. I'm into whatever they want to do as long as they don't screw it up. ?

Well, that was fun. I loved all the references to the original works and the fun they had with it.

About a half hour in DH started to fall asleep (I'm sure he'd love knowing I'm sharing that). So I turned it off so we could watch it another time. It won't be on demand until 1/11 or something like that, he figured it out, so have to wait until then.
The first half hour was good!

Oh, you can find it online. I've watched it again once already. Some website DH uses all the time. I doubt it's strictly legal, but it's out there. I can't tell you anything now! It's coming back on this coming Sunday too, not sure if it's before or after Downton.

I'm seeing it tomorrow. Thanks for withholding spoilers. The closest I came to a spoiler was a headline from some online periodical saying the Brits were not impressed. I may just clean or go offline so I don't ruin any surprise for me.

I'm holding off on spoilers for now PauletteG so don't worry, I'll warn before I do it. I think they had a huge amount of fun writing it, and I enjoyed watching it. Was it the same kind of cliffhanger/solver of things left undone that you get with a season opener? Nope. It was always supposed to be a one off anyway. I'll be heading to the theater to watch it Wed evening. I'm sure I'll spot details I didn't catch the first two times.

I saw "Sherlock" last night on the big screen. I kept busy Mon and Tues and cut my online soc-media time by 80% to avoid spoiling it. And I closed my eyes for all but half-a-second of Andrew Scott (the last half-second of his screen presence I caught, on purpose), so it was a great movie experience: no yappers, no texters, no crying babies (my child was the youngest audience member, and he's 14), no seat-kickers.

Do you just not like his face? lol I thought of you when I watched the other night and he showed up. I'm going to watch on the big screen tonight, maybe it'll be a full theater.

No, I don't like the quality of Andrew Scott's acting. I don't get the feeling that Moriarty is a maths professor with him, only that he's a swishy narcissistic psychopath lusting for Sherlock. I saw Andrew Scott in one episode of "The Hour", another BBC series, and his acting was bad there too. I'm okay with swishy narcissistic psychopaths, but if they're maths professors they should present themselves as malevolent and competent, not "oh Sherlock, why can't my flamboyant gestures of misanthropic malevolence win your heart?" Ted Kaczynski, serial murderer and anarchist bomber, was a math professor and that was easy to remember as he seemed competent and bright enough to carry out his plots of terror.

They've never claimed he's a math professor in this version though.
I do get what you're saying, you should have heard the fit I had when I saw what Elementary did with Irene Adler and Moriarty. <<shudder>>

Woot, party time!
I may have to re-watch all episodes again to be able to contribute anything intelligent. Oh, darn...!

What a shame! (Me too, now that I think about it. I haven't rewatched in a while, I didn't want to make myself sick of it.) Are you saying you don't have them memorized?

This is why I have to watch them again (and again, and again....) I was probably pretty close to having them memorized. I still retain way more than I should I'm sure. It helps that I've read the stories over and over and references to those makes things stick in my head. That's what I'm blaming. Not that I've watched them over and over and over.....

I'm so ashamed to admit it, but.... I've never read the original stories. Perhaps that's what I need to do to fill the time until next season starts.

YES!!!!!!!!!! I mean, that sounds like a good way to fill the time. It adds a whole new level of entertainment in watching the shows. Sure you can enjoy it without having read a word but the little references they sneak in are fun to watch for. Ever wonder why he had cigarettes in a slipper? That's where the tobacco for the pipe is in the stories. Fun little things like that. They also do some references to the movies but I have not yet liked any of the older movies I've watched. Haven't tried the new ones. If you get the DVDs from the library or something you can watch the episodes with commentary and learn what they paid homage to.

If you're still lurking Rockit, I'm not aware of anywhere to see it right now (I haven't actually cared to watch the special again, it didn't thrill me that much). You could try something like Couch Tuner, not legal but probably there.

Good to know. I watched most of Season 2 with my sister yesterday. I left partway through Reichenbach and she had finished it and moved on to Season 3 last I talked to her. She hasn't watched it before, so it's been entertaining for me to see what other people laugh at or find interesting.

CL, this isn't Sherlock but it IS Benedict : Are you going to see Doctor Strange next month? Our fam loves all things MCU (Marcel Cinematic Universe), so I can't wait!

When I heard he'd been cast, I said that something is finally going to force me to watch a comic book movie. I won't commit to sitting and watching a movie but will watch hours of television. I'm strange.

LOL. I'm definitely more of a TV (rather than movie) watcher also EXCEPT when it comes to comic movies. I'm kind of addicted to the Avengers.

I'm sure I'd enjoy all the movies if I just watched them. I just don't wanna. I can barely keep up with what I want to watch now, I don't need to add to it. That's my story anyway. I even have people telling me what I should watch next. (DD and yogiii are the whole list though. lol)
