<-- billis Do you prefer working with people/things/data/ideas? You can Google a worksheet for this. I sort of recall that you can get a score that relates to different professions. It's a starting point, anyway.

Once wrapped presents for a store for 2 hrs until break .... never went back. Owned a clothing store. I'm a mess I want a variety of tasks preferably outdoors. Hate being tied to a desk. I guess variety / flexibility more important than salary (has to at least be 2× minimum wage which is $12.50 hr ... don't need benefits)

Have you looked into trades? Construction can be cyclical, but there are a lot of fields/jobs that are pretty steady. If you have already worked for the government, you might be able to get a job as an apprentice more easily than some. Lots of those jobs work outdoors, with very little desk work.

Although I sound like: looking for: I'm not that dillusional. Here's why. Much like beccazan all my 'needs' are met through my gov't pension with a built in COLA. Plus I'll get an additional $2400+ a month once I become SSA eligible. At my current salary range ($30+ hr), I only need 500 hrs a yr. Or to travel less, which probably won't happen So I'm thinking: ♤ edit: Trail guide - volunteer ♡ Cruise line (have friend who teaches painting on one) ◇ Backstage at music festivals (sis does Rock Med) ♧ Create / sell glass art at festivals ☆ Suck it up and do another year in accounting while banking 1/2 to do one of the above

For the cruise line, you'd be gone ... is that realistic for you? Just asking. :-)
Otherwise if even some things are feasible, couldn't you do a bit of some of them?
Personally I'd probably "suck it up" and do another year in accounting next year, but also try to get the ball rolling on the other ideas for the future.

I'm an hour away That shouldn't be a problem. Full hotels, etc will make people search further out. We had a friend who had a friend who was attending super bowl in NO and they contacted us about "renting/staying" at our house. We live 2 1/2 hrs from NO. Turned out we already had out of town guest coming to town so it was a no go. Not sure I would have allowed total strangers in my home anyway but we did trust the friends who had them contact us.

Yeah. Just starting to see if that's possible. After I cover everything I HAVE TO cover without additional income stream, I've got $92 left over.

Exactly. You should have seen what a hot mess Phoenix was during last year's Superbowl. Unfortunately I had a tenant turnover going on and I couldn't find a hotel to stay in and my house was over an hour away. I wound up driving in from So. CA and during the walk through at 4pm on January 31st. My tenants couldn't find a place to live and wound up bunking with friends (separately!) while their condo closed.
Wild times!

I'm a CRTP. Normally in the CPA offices I've worked in, it's year round. Except it stopped abruptly 11/18/15. No fiduciaries, no corporate, nothing. This should be a big month finishing off 1/2015 - 11/2015 for tax planning, quickbooks, but nada
