Has anyone upgraded to this new Xfinity cable box? Comcast said I could get their new interactive Xfinity cable box for free so I did. Can't say I like it. In my opinion not really user friendly. Slow to find what to watch.
I'm thinking of going back to the old cable box. I guess I'm not tech savy and like the old tech better.

I wish I had my old box back. Did you get a remote that you can talk to? (I didn't. But I was told I can take the remote I did get in to one of their offices, and they will give me one.) Supposedly the talking remotes are a lot better. Ugh.

I haven't explored all the features yet. I saw something about it in the setup. I think I can talk to it and it talks back for people with special needs.

Are u talking about the X1? I ended up with it when I decided I wanted a second DVR for my bedroom and that want kind of snowballed into a lot of other unnecessary stuff. But I do like the X1 better than the old DVR and I'm not tech savvy either. I don't have a voice remote, doesn't it cost more? I don't need to add even one more dollar to that bill.

It takes some getting used to. My initial reaction was definitely frustration and I want my old one back. I could scroll faster and still see whatever I was watching without the whole guide taking over the screen. It's been a couple of months and I feel a little better about it. They've definitely dumbed it down for people since there are images for everything and you don't have to be able to read. I'm not crazy about the remote control, it's way too sensitive.

so this is a voluntary thing? I've been seeing xfinity boxes on front steps all over the place lately (comCRAP is our only cable option on Cape, so lots of subscribers) and was wondering what I am missing out on. sounds like not much! sent from my electronic distraction

Mine were set up because I made some changes to my plan, so it was a technician that set it up instead of the self-install. When he first set it up, it was super slow as well. He went outside, did something, came back and it wasn't slow anymore. There is no delay.

Mine was set up by one of their tech's too. Even after all the tweaking he did, it is CRAZY slow! And I hate that when I push the EXIT button, it only really exits that page / screen. Seems more like a BACK button, to me. And I hate that it has to shut down and restart every day. That takes forever. Maybe I'll like it better, when I get the voice remote. But I'm not holding my breath!

It may do it every night, I don't know because I'm usually asleep at that time. It's interesting that people are saying there are delays when using the remote. I set mine up myself and I don't have delays. The only issue I've had so far is that I can't get the pandora app to work. But I have several other ways to play music on Pandora, so I haven't cared enough to try to sort it out.

We upgraded to X1 operating system a few months ago and I really like it. You can record up to 4 shows at a time and there is a LOT more storage space. The user interface takes a little getting used to, but once I did, I really liked it. Somewhere there are tutorials, each about 2 minutes long, which I found helpful. As with any change, sometimes all you need is to give it some time. Good luck!

Friends of mine have one. It reboots all the time. Which is great when you are in the middle of watching something or changing the channel. They don't have the voice remote. A coworker got one and I don't think he's had issues. They are in different states so that may not be a fair comparison.

It's a Comcast / Xfinity deal. To be honest, I think it has to do with them having control. But that's just my opinon.

Yours isn't slow, say from the time you push the LAST button, to when it shows on the screen? I'm jealous! I have two remotes and 2 TVs. I set up one remote, they set up the other. Both are slow S L O W.

I had the option to have it restart later. So I guess it does restart every night. I should have been asleep hours ago. I'm going to be one pitiful chick a dee tomorrow.
