I'm "working" from home today, since my car can't get out of my condo complex. so I'm going back through those corporate organizational emails that I never have time to read, and I see a link that says "Get your copy of Office 2010 Professional for $9.95!"
turns out it's through this thing called Microsoft Home Use Program. anyone ever use this before? did I just waste my $10? I'm going to check it out once it's done installing, but I'm just curious if anyone else has good or bad things to say about it.

Pretty much it means that your company pays for a bulk + employees license that allows you to get a home copy for a significantly reduced price.

that's what I thought from the email, but I wasn't sure if it was limited functionality or anything. boy, am I glad I didn't pony up the cash for upgrading the "basic" Office limited license when I bought my new laptop a couple months back.

we have that available to us at work as well, and it's a great program. a few years ago i spent $10 to put the microsoft office suite on our new home computer, and i'll be spending another $10 next year to upgrade my husbands new laptop. it's definitely a great deal if you can get it.

Yes, our school district just started offering this for 2010. They've had it before, but it was free rather than having to pay $10 for it.
Unfortunately, we did "upgrade" several months ago when my DH bought a new computer. We used my educator's discount so it was about a $100 for the entire suite including two licenses.
I'll save my nightmare of trying to configure the new Outlook to work with Roadrunner for another thread. I'll simply say that it isn't doable by the ordinary person or even the Roadrunner tech person.

We used to have it but it was pulled a year ago. Drat.
