What are some good fun board games besides the usual? We like Apples to Apples and Clue. I was looking at Munchkins. Anyone ever play that? Or Gloom?

We have Phase 10. Kids didn't really take to that one. My sons are 19 and 18 and DD is 13. My sons are into the card games like Magic and Pathfinders. I dont' really understand those but I can drag them into some board games at times and they seem to enjoy that with us and their friends. I just found Anti-Monopoly which I owned as a kid. I bought it for $10 and we have played that. Kind of a fun twist. But, monopoly tends to take forever, lol.

I like games like Shadows Over Camelot... But if you don't want something to take forever My kids like Munchkin I think... Not sure I played it? I really like Dixit, Words on the Street, Things, Say Anything, Flux... Cards Against Humanity is a great game, but I can't play it with my kids. I don't know if I ever will...

CAH is a ton of fun. what's the audience you're looking to entertain? Apples to Apples is fun if there are kids or people that are easily offended. but if everyone's got thick skin, definitely go for CAH. and oped - the best recent memory of a family gathering I have is a couple years back when we all played CAH. my mother won the night, and I've never seen my BIL turn so many shades of red in one sitting. shooby - if you want to try a fun tile game, check out Carcasonne. the base game is a little pricey, but it's a good size starter kit. then you can buy expansion packs for pretty short money. basically, you play tiles to build a "map" of a medieval village. it's a lot of fun.

We got Settlers of Catan. I actually bought it last year and my kids all groaned and said it was boring, blah, blah. And, we didn't really understand how to play it and you have to be willing to push through the learning curve. Well, my older son is really into play Magic and some other card games like Pathfinder. So, he wanted to play Catan and we pulled it out and really had a lot of fun with it. There is strategy and he wound up winning 2 games. DD and I are both learning to play chess. That is fun and we are both understand the moves and strategy a bit more every time we play.
