Her story suggests she is a fine candidate for such a position. I was born in Somalia, but mostly what I remember are flashes of a carefree child, happily unaware of the world beyond the Utanga Refugee Camp in Kenya.
My family, like many others, faced tough decisions. One was whether to return to Somalia in the height of civil war. Another was whether to send their small child — me — to live with a relative in a far-off land in hopes of better opportunities.
Soon, I found myself in a kindergarten class in Denmark.
In the early 2000s, my father made his way out of Somalia, alone. He came to the United States as a refugee. He lived in Texas, but driving trucks gave him the opportunity to explore America's frontiers: from the snowy Northwest to the humid Southeast. He decided to settle in the latter, and started the paperwork to bring my mother and brothers from Somalia and me from Denmark.
In 2005, my whole family reunited in our new home: Memphis, Tennessee. We soon adapted to Southern living (and yummy Memphis barbecue). We bought a house down by the Mississippi River. My brother even attended the same middle school as Elvis Presley. I graduated from the University of Memphis.
On the morning of April 29, 2013, I returned to the same auditorium where I had received my high school diploma a few years earlier. Now, I was among 500 people. We each went up on stage, before a panel of immigration judges, and stated our full name and country of origin. In the audience, we all stood, raised our right hands and recited the Oath of Allegiance.
On July 28, 2014, I was sworn in as special assistant to the Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). USCIS naturalizes more than 700,000 new U.S. citizens each year, along with processing millions of other immigration-related requests. USCIS is the very agency that made it possible for my family to immigrate, and for all of us to become citizens. Read more at www.snopes.com/politics/obama/fatimanoor.asp#esDsob6uvcETWsWZ.99

I agree. I can't believe he'd appoint someone like that and expect there to be no backlash! I mean... really? She minored in Spanish. SPANISH! Of all the foreign languages... she could have picked Russian... or Latin... or French... but she picked Spanish. Oh the humanity!

No more so than we would anyone else inventing facts and ascribing nefarious meaning to innocuous events.
(And certainly far, FAR less than when Paul does it.)

One would assume that since she is an immigrant and had to go through the process of obtaining citizenship, she would have first hand knowledge on how the system works and experienced most likely the "hiccups" for lack of a better word, in the process. Wouldn't you think that she might be a better suited person for the position than someone that is 15th generation US born? Or maybe that in people's minds has something to do with favoring the "GD immigrants that come here taking our jobs!"
But I see that a bigger problem would be for some the fact that she is Muslim! Well, maybe we ran out of "God fearing Christians" that would be good for the job. Or maybe in a government job/position religion is as it should be:irrelevant!

OK maybe you can point out the part of any experience for the White House position??

A year later, I would take a different kind of oath. On July 28, 2014, I was sworn in as special assistant to the Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

Did you read far enough to see her duties in that job? Still not seeing reason for outrage here....

The "different kind of oath" refers to the fact that her first oath was for citizenship. You know the one that starts with "I pledge allegiance to the flag..."!
As a government functionary appointed to a position such as hers, they have to pledge that they will fulfill their job obligations without discrimination of any kind. That they will maintain impartial judgement in the interest of the USA.
Is more or less a Pledge of Allegiance on steroids. The adds on are to make sure that the scope and purpose of your job are clear

Yeah, if only county clerks were required to take the same type of oath. Oh, wait....

Where is it written she is working at the White House? Your link does not say it. Nor does the Snopes link indicate she works at the White House. In one document attached to the Snopes article, she states she is part of a White House team. But that does not mean she is working at the White House. I worked on our new mayor's special/transition team, but that does not mean I worked out of the mayor's office. I worked from home while other members of his transition team worked out of their own businesses and homes too but not out of the mayor's office. I decided to search the physical address of the department for where she works. She aspecial assistant Leon Rodriguez, the Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). According to this 8/13/2015 USCIS document, USCIS headquarters is located at the following physical address: USCIS Headquarters 425 I Street, N.W. Washington, DC 20536 9 FAM APPENDIX N, EXHIBIT II REGIONAL, FIELD, AND OVERSEAS OFFICES OF UNITED STATES CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION SERVICESI Street is several streets away from the White House.

You really don't read anything of what others write do you. What you said above, I already said in reply #17, including that she is part of a White House team. I bet you skipped over it. Did you also skip over the part where the headquarters of USCIS is located on I Street? I bet you did. I have provided actual proof as to where headquarters for USCIS is located. If you have other actual proof of this woman's work address, please feel free to post it here. Failure on your part to provide well documented proof simply means you are talking out of your ass..again. Your move.

I agree with djAdvocate. I wouldn't have made fun of you. I didn't post because I didn't want to say something that could be taken that way. I didn't, however, understand the point you were trying to make. As it turns out, you didn't do enough research before you posted, ol' feller. That often leads to just what you've seen here ... people who can't figure out where you're going with what you posted because it simply doesn't make sense to those who have done more reading on the subject than you have.
