I paid 25.00 for mine in 1980. It was the store sample and the style was being discontinued. It was the second one I tried on. Marked down from 300.00, so it was a great deal.
DD1's dress was 250.00 at a David's Bridal sale. Marked down from 600.00. DD2 is wearing my dress. It had to be altered and she had it made into a sleeveless dress. Total cost of 350.00.
Can't complain about any of them.

My dress was about $100, plus another $100 for alterations and about $100 for accessories.
DD is 15 months old so I dont have plans for her wedding dress just yet. But I suppose I'd just write her a check for our entire contribution to her wedding (inflation-adjusted equivalent of $10k, perhaps?) and she can use all, some or none of it on whatever wedding dress she choses.
And no matter how extravagent or cheap the dress, I hope I have the good graces to shut my mouth except to say, "you look beautiful, honey!"

My first dress in 1986 was around $250. Alterations included. I had another piece added to the head piece to make it really long, but I don't remember that being anything expensive, especially like they are today. My second dress in 2001 was $250 from David's. It really didn't need any alterations size wise, but after trying it on a couple of times I realized the bottom was uneven. Took it to a sweet lady that owned a dry cleaners, and she charged me about $50. And she gave me a sweet little wedding gift. My DD has no intentions of marrying, but if she changes her mind one day, I totally see her getting married on a beach barefoot, so she probably won't spend alot. Plus she hates everything to do with sequins, bling, etc. so I would expect it to be something inexpensive and casual.

My dress was marked $49.95 used at the American Cancer Society upscale thrift store, but they had a sale and everything in the store was $5. I spent $90 on alterations. I haven't gotten a headpiece yet.

I think mine was $600, including alterations and veil in 2004. I didn't want a train.

If I remember correctly, my first wedding dress was $50 in 1976--it was a store sample & the first one I tried on. Second time around (in 2005) I spent $10 at a Ross' for a deep purple chiffon sheath & jacket. No daughters, so can't even speculate on that one.....

$5200.00 in 2005....$2200 in 2000. 2nd marriage makes it all worthwhile.
Paid cash. Vera Wang. Let the flames begin!

If it made you happy, so be it. I'm still trying to figure out what to wear at my age.

If it made you happy, so be it. I'm still trying to figure out what to wear at my age. At your age - wear what makes you happy. (Seriously - I have no idea how old you are, but if you're referring to yourself as "at my age" - wear what you want and will make you happy. If a simple dress off the rack at JC Penny's is what does it for you, go for it. If a dress to rival the upcoming Royal Wedding is what will do it for you, go for it. "At your Age" gives you the freedom to do what you want according to my dear Grandma!)

For my second marriage in 2007, a $400 gown from Davids. It needed a hem, but no other alterations. It was really comfortable and still quite gorgeous, so I was a happy camper.

I LOVE your avatar!!!! If that is for me, thanks! My big guy looks almost like that, and he loves to play with the laptop mouse. Bats it around, though, rather than "catching" it.

1984, $800 for the dress, $120 for the headpiece and veil. I won't mention what Mommy and Daddy paid for the wedding.... It might cause apoplexy in the land of YM.

dang, I paid $70 just to hem my bridesmaid dress for my sister's wedding. I think it costs a lot more to get wedding dresses hemmed.

My mom made my dress. The supplies cost about 60.00 total. I looked fabulous.
Edited to add this was in 2006.
