this morning, I was thinking if I could have signed the darn pledge to back whoever wins the nomination. Could I as a Republican, seriously back a few of the candidates that are running if they won the nomination. Huckabee.........no Cruz................no Rubio..............probably not Paul................no Perry..............no, but he is already gone Then I thought about the Democrat winning the fall election Clinton...........hell no Sanders..........you got to be freaking kidding me Biden.............do we really want four years of the last two years of Reagan's 2nd term, where Reagan was suffering the first signs of dementia? Oh heck no. I guess I really could sign the darn pledge after all.

I understand the reason for it, but still think it's ridiculous for both parties to expect blind loyalty to the party above everything else. Not every Republican or Democrat thinks the same way, but the tactic of threatening to challenge them in the primaries or not give support for not "falling in line" is part of the issue we have the type of politics we have today.

What would you do?

What would you do? Archie, I might have been unclear in my post. It was a hypothetical question of a Republican voter promising to vote for the Republican nominee. I would have a hard time voting for an Independent due yo chances of not winning, and taking votes away from the candidate that is the lessor of two evils that could win. As I speculated that none of the Democrats would be a better fit, I would vote for any Republican nominee over that choice. On the other hand, I see Mark Cuban tweeted/texted (whatever) that if he ran as a Democrat, he would crush Trump. I think I could go with Cuban

After watching him virtually cry on the CBS Late show the other night, it can easily be a concern he is seriously in a depressed state right now. I sincerely hope and pray he gets out of that mindset. But, as a Presidential candidate, we do not need someone who is "depressed" and is looking like another potential "damaged" Eagleton candidate right now. Granted that was a Vice Presidency candidate. Just being honest here. Not looking for a fight. I thought your question deserved a response.

On the CBS show he was talking about his son who only passed away in May. That's not clinical depression. That's situational depression encountered during the course of grieving. It's perfectly natural. Anyone here who's lost someone very dear (particularly a parent, or a child) will understand Joe's reaction to that discussion. I'd think a lot less of him if he didn't react with grief. His boy died!

For goodness sake, men shouldn't get emotional after the recent death of their child. And it isn't like this is the first time he ever lost a child. He lost his first wife and very young daughter to a car accident years ago and his two young sons were seriously injured, one of whom died this past May. He has outlived two of his four childeen. That should not happen to him or anyone else.

Heck, Tennesseer, I still find myself tearing up over mother's loss. I even have the rare moment over my late husband's passing and that was in 2008! Having lost a child myself (albeit, only 17 months when he passed), I know what that feels like. It hurts forever. There will always be tears - unless you're dead inside.

Remind me to spend the time counting the men's heads I've held while they boohooed over the loss of their wife, or their child, or their parent. I'll even add in the times I've cried right along with them, but keep it as a separate accounting.
