Looks like he is not the typical Hollywood actor. Great story!

Didn't read the article but I'm guessing it mentioned that before he was famous he worked for FDNY. I've read a lot of stories over the years about things he's done commemorating 9/11 and many visits or benefits he's done at other times of the year to help out. Sounds like a legitimately great guy and he's an awesome actor who doesn't seem to take him self too serious having done serious roles, stupid funny roles and everything in between.

And also that he has shown up to work a 12 hour shift after major disasters, including on 9/12/11.

The think I adore most is that he didn't do interviews and didn't out himself. He did those things because he wanted to help, not for the publicity, which is rare these days. And I love that the few times he has discussed this (like during a Jon Stewart interview), he minimises his act and focuses on the people who were doing those jobs day in and day out.
