We have Prime, Netflix, Hulu (suspended), and I'm pretty sure my DH has some online gaming subscriptions but he keeps changing them so I don't really track.

How does it work? Only wine... I get at least 3 bottles every month. I can have them pick for me based on my red/white preference or I can choose the wines from their selection myself. I have tried easily a dozen different bottles and only have found 1 i didn't care for. It was good, but I couldn't really do more than a few sips. It tasted like a great wine for cooking marinara or beef roasts. - I used it in my homemade marinara on sunday and it was DELISH! If you want to try it out, PM me with an email address and I'll send you a link. I don't work for them or anything... I am just a BELIEVER!

I think it's important to note that this wasn't magazine subscriptions. A lot of it was software subscriptions that these folks used to do projects in their business, and then didn't cancel when they were no longer needed. A little different than $7,500 worth of Good Housekeeping, but still simply not paying attention to their business.

I guess I do have a Y membership too, but I don't count that because I pay it as a lump sum once a year.

Real Simple magazine. I'm not sure what it ends up being monthly. I got either a 3 or 2 year subscription. I'm addicted.

I signed up for a one-year subscription last spring to two magazines since it was a fundraiser for my neighbor's daughter: Diabetes Management and Prevention. I actually READ them both I do pay a small fee to use the online version of our local newspaper.

Wait, wine counts? It's not monthly and we have to pick it up, but we belong to 3 wine clubs.

A few for us:
* Amazon Prime (Student) - $49/yr
* Netflix - something like $10/mo?
* Some magazine subs - $0 - we save the coke caps from home/work/etc. and use those 'points' to pay for them since we are only casual magazine readers
* Gym- $20/mo- but really $0 since we are reimbursed through work/insurance
* Cable + Internet - $90/mo. I would love to cut the cord, but DW needs TV for work and we both work from home occasionally.
Most of those are well used so it seems worth the cost

I hate clutter so no magazine subscriptions. If I want to read one, I'll borrow them from the library. Same with books even though I'm an avid reader.
We subscribe to the daily paper which we both read cover to cover. DH loves to do the crossword puzzles and sudoku.
I guess DISH is a subscription of sorts.
That's it.

How does it work? Don't get too excited there, Carl. A lot of places/clubs still won't deliver to Mass. although they lifted the law banning it. Local liquor store deliveries, on the other hand, I can definitely get behind that. Beverly has a store that will deliver, ChrisPy's on Rantoul. Now I just need to see if Kappy's will deliver!

I have 3 magazine subscriptions. I pay for 2 and my sister gives me the 3rd for Christmas. Verizon FIOS for my internet, if that counts. No cable, no netflix, no fun.

Is cable/phone/internet bundle a monthly subscription? If so, $165/month. My plan though is to drop phone, cut cable to basic, get rid of DVR, but double internet speed (for better streaming), and I hope to drop that to the $90/month range. The only reason I'll keep any cable at all is so DH can watch some football. Otherwise, he'd probably curl up into a ball and die.
Netflix: $7.99/mo Amazon Prime: $99/yr (like the free shipping, but don't watch any movies since we have Netflix, so might decide to drop this next year) Sirius: $100/yr (they want to double it in a couple weeks, so I have to call and threaten to cancel so I get a lower rate) Local Newspaper: $26/yr (for Thursday, Saturday, Sunday delivery)
No magazines...

bobosensei, I def like the Dorco blades. I use the ones with 4 blades, but even at 6$ a month (not bad) that's a new cartridge every week - way too much for me. I can get 10 of the same blades right now on amazon for $18
Regarding shaving cream, I also switched to cremo cream from regular foam cream. What a difference! And 1 tube (<10 at CVS) lasts me for months.
cremocompany.com/
To get back on topic:
I have a bunch of little subscriptions that add up, but I budget for them. I can't imagine "forgetting" about so many - sure one or two maybe, but that couple in the article is pretty ridiculous.
I also have some yearly things (gym, small fee for ad free email, etc) that I "budget monthly" but don't worry about the actually dollars. I just know I'm accounting for those expenses eventually. Okay, I signed myself up for dollar shave club. I'm getting a 4 blade razor- a full cartridge that is supposed to last me a month, but realistically DH and I can share them for a month for 6 bucks. They are also sending me a sample of their shave butter which I think I might like, and that would be another 8 dollars a month. That's half of what Harry's costs. If I don't like them I'll try dorco. Thanks for the recommendation! Now I just have to cancel the Harry's stuff, and DH has enough of that for 4 months at least.

Cawiau which SiriusXM package do you have? I did the "call to cancel" deal and I have one of the higher packages for about $11/mo. They'd rather give me a discount off the high package than have me pay full price for the lower tier.
I have SiriusXM, Spotify, Amazon Prime, Hulu+, and Netflix, and Crunchyroll. I'll add HBO Now when HBO decides it wants to let normal people pay for content without also having to buy devices they don't care about.
I also have memberships to three entertainment venues, so I can get advance tickets and better seating.
I subscribe to one magazine, about $35/year.

Both of us have lifetime subscriptions to Sirius bought outright. How do you get a lifetime membership to Sirius? I just paid the year up front for about $225. I don't read. I finish like one book a year. I'm hoping to fix that in 11 years, when we are down to one child in the house. I didn't read a book for myself, except for college and professional stuff, until my youngest was 6. I was reading a few books a year for the five years after that. For 2013 when she turned 11, I decided I was going to read ten books for the calendar year of 2012. It was actually difficult for me to accomplish that even with not working the month of July. Last year, I managed to read 18 books. This year, I'm currently at 24. It does get easier as they get older. DH signed up for a razor and shave gel subscription, and we've figured out that he doesn't need as much stuff coming to him each month so we will put it on hold until he uses up most of what he's got and then reduce what he's ordered. That happened to me with ProActiv. I had a subscription for over a decade. I canceled it last year because I had such a stockpile. I've only run out of the toner. I have at least two bottles of face wash left and probably five or six of the repairing lotion. Cancelling wasn't about the money; it was that I didn't need to have that much of the stuff in my house. And, I had reduced the frequency of shipments a few years ago!

I have Microsoft Office. I was fine with this. I pay it yearly for about $70. Then, two weeks ago, I found out I can get it free through DH's work. SO ANNOYED!!!
We have Sirius XM. We have the best package that I pay yearly. DH's truck has a built in Sirius radio. He also listens to it in the house off of the wi-fi and computer. It's ~$225 per year.
DH has ESPN The Magazine and Insider. That's about ~$40 per year.
We pay $50 per month for a family gym membership.
We have Netflix. It's the two DVDs at a time for $12 per month. No streaming. We just don't watch that much tv. ;
We have cable and internet that runs $125 per month. We very well may have a landline in that bundle which reduces the price, but we don't even have an actual regular phone in the house.
We have unlimited data and texting and 1500 shared minutes with four phone lines for four iPhones. That's $260 per month. It's a necessity for DH. It's a want for me. It's a luxury for the girls.

Both of us have lifetime subscriptions to Sirius bought outright. How do you get a lifetime membership to Sirius? I just paid the year up front for about $225. They are not available any longer. TD bought his when he got his car in 2006, then bought mine for my birthday when I bought my Forester in 2007. I want to say that they cost about $200 back then. The subscription is tied to the receiver ID, so if I want to keep my lifetime subscription, I have to pull my receiver out of my car and take it with me if I get rid of my car. TD's receiver broke and he was able to talk them into transferring it to the new receiver he purchased.

Fantastic for you, The Walk of the Penguin Mich! Bummer for us.
I just remembered I also have an American Greetings subscription that is $20 per year. I can send all of the animated e-cards I want. I don't have to go to the store to buy cards, nor do I have to make cards. I don't have to have envelopes or stamps. I can set them to send up to one year in advance, though I don't generally set them up more than 30 days in advance.

All of you with multiple magazine subscriptions need to be checking out nextissue.com. It is a dream come true. Seriously. $9.99 per month for more magazines than you can ever read. $14.99 if you want to add the weeklies.

I didn't like what club w recommended for me....how are your selections measuring up? as far as my own subscriptions - the Sunday Globe, my mobile phone and cable/internet for the house, and BarkBox for the pup. I think that's it.
