Entertainment romance the night before

TV shows and movies don't get into the details of actual events of how and what takes place the night before. usually they show people waking up next morning after drinking and being drunk or slightly hung over, with one of them leaving to get out!


but here is the actual events
people are at a bar / home party / social event drinking
they are by themselves, which means they most likely drove there. rather than used public transportation
they meet someone at this event, while drinking and later on decide to go back to "your place" for some sex
then the next scene is they are at "your place" kissing, touching, taking off clothes and shoes while stumbling to the bed. and then it's next morning and they are surprised they had sex and it's awkward and one is trying to get out of there.

this is something I have never experienced so I don't understand. when they decide to leave; is it together or at different times? do people take one car or follow the other person to "your place"? even in the big city, I am sure home is at least a 20 minute drive or most likely longer? I would think that would kill the mood of being horny and wanting to continue to have sex with this stranger? when at home keys in the door and all of a sudden a burst of sexual tension comes back? then sex for what a few minutes? and he gets off, finishes and of course falls asleep. then it's next morning. what happens when they left one car at the party?

seems to be a lot of thinking and making decisions to wake up the next morning blaming drinking and this was a mistake, and I wasn't thinking clearly.
