Oh man. I need some help. Still getting acne breakouts, i have some sunspots, and starting to get some wrinkles around my eyes and lips. Neighbor sells Rodan+Fields, but most direct-sales stuff turns me off. Any OTC equivalents? What are your favorite skincare products?

DD is a teen and using some products but said her face felt dry. What is a good cream or moisturizer to put on that isn't overly greasy?

I've used oil of olay moisturizer for about 20 years. After I turned 30 I bought the olay of night, but I usually don't remember to use it. To clean my face I use cetaphil. When I go to the spa for a facial they always go on and on about how great my skin is. And because the olay has SPF in the moisturizer I'm not getting wrinkles yet. People think I am in my early 20s all the time.

Aveeno and Nivea have been staples for me. I also use St Ives Apricot Scrub on the rare occasions that I actually wash my face at night. (I'm pretty bad about it.....luckily I was blessed with great skin, or I'd be screwed ) that Nivea lotion I linked to is one that I use on my face and body, it isn't greasy at all. other flavors of Nivea can be, this one's not. and a little goes a very long way.

I use Dr. Bronners castile soap in Almond to wash my face and coconut oil as a moisturizer. All natural, no chemicals- my skin LOVES it. for a scrub, I mix coconut oil and baking soda. coconut oil also takes off my make up. If i get a blemish- usually from not washing my face soon enough after a workout or falling asleep without make up removal- I add a little coconut oil with tea tree oil and it clears right up!

I use isomers with my clairisonic. I like had combo - it's a cleanser not soap with tea tree and exfoliating beads.
Though truthfully my acne didn't go away until I tried a rx pill another user on here mentioned. It's manna from heaven and unfortunately I can tell when I've skipped days. They'll pry it from my cold dead hands.

Sarcastic girl- do you dilute the Castile soap or use it straight? What's your skin type? I've been on the hunt for natural skin care that works with my very dry skin for years.

I've used castile soap straight a couple times on my face, when I run out of my face wash or can't find it. I also use it a lot to take off eye makeup. I'd say my skin is normal, sometimes more oily sometimes more dry.

My skin tends to be more on the dry site. I used to dilute the castile soap when I used the mint one (it tingles quite a bit)- but quickly found Almond and love it, don't dilute it at all. I use it as a body wash and facial cleanser. I use the mint strictly for cleaning. I also find the citrus great for cleaning- it was a bit drying on my skin. I'll say this- I used to have horrible problems with dry skin. I wanted to SCRATCH MY FACE OFF! and I would get winter eczema spots. Since I switched to castile soap and coconut oil moisturizer I no longer have this issue!

Ok, for the last 3 days I've been wearing no foundation & using coconut oil with some tea tree & lavender mixed in (NO ONE TELL SIL, lol!!). Darn it if my face doesn't feel much better already. I still have red spots, but my skin is so much smoother & no new pimples forming. I've been applying it 3x per day.
I was brushing my teeth once a day with coconut oil & baking soda. It tastes terrible, but does an amazing job of getting the teeth clean & helps to whiten too. I guess I can just use that same concoction to scrub my face with later. Got to love mixing up beauty products in the kitchen

I've been using Paula's Choice and am almost happy with my skin. I had horrible acne from middle school until I started using her products about six years ago. The trial and error thing I was doing before was not good for my skin or my budget. www.paulaschoice.com/

Tea tree oil and lavender can both be drying so once you get the skin under control, I'd pay close attention to how your skin feels and maybe just use it for spot treatment as needed and do overall coconut oil if things start to get too dry.

Shea butter on my body works wonders. I also use coconut or castor oil on my face and they also work great (and my face is only).

I use Neutrogena bar soap. I use egg whites for a mask and pure sugar to exfoliate.

I was hesitant to reply to this thread because I'm in France. But I looked and my favorite products are indeed available in the US too.
I am not spendy but I spend on these ... but they last a long time. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Laroche Posay. I have VERY dry skin so I use the Cold Cream. I use it as a day cream. My sister (in NY) loves it too. Her skin is not dry so she uses it as a night cream. At this point I've lived here for 30 years. When I see her and ask her what she wants, she says "The cold cream!!!" LOL
My kids (who also have dry skin but not as bad as me) use the lighter version, ie the "lait" or "milk", rather than the greasy cold cream. I use that lait/milk as a body cream. I buy it in the big dispenser with a pump and it lasts me a year. I also buy a big dispenser for the kids' bathroom, it lasts them 6 months.
We also use their sunscreen and after-sun cream. Their after-sun lotion (Post-Helios) is my favorite lotion EVER!
So all told, I probably spend 100 - 150 per year on my cold cream, the 2 lait / milk dispensers for the 2 bathrooms, the sunscreen and the after-sun lotion, the teen / acne cream, plus a few lip balms. We are all HUGE big fans of Laroche Posay.
I am nearly 56 and although this sounds vain, I have really, really good skin. I started using the Laroche Posay products about 15 years ago after a girl at work at my old job told me about them.
I PROMISE you, try it, you won't regret it!!!
ETA: Shooby the Cold Cream is very greasy, the lait / milk is not. DS3 (a teen) also uses their products for his teen skin issues. I can't remember the name of what he uses ... maybe Efficlar? I can find out if you want. :-)
ETA: My entire life, people have asked me how old I am (usually in relation to my kids). Then they laugh and they tell me that it's not nice to lie. I'm sure genes account for my good skin too, but I also definitely give a lot of credit to Laroche Posay LOL.

Sugi, there aren't the products I buy, except for the anthelios (sunscreen). Even the lipikar is different, that's not the one I buy.
ETA: I buy the lipikar in the pump but the two offers available aren't the body cream / milk / lait. I think one is a cleanser, can't remember what the other one is.
I think DS3's acne cream was in there but you wouldn't be looking for that lol.

Sam_2.0 : I primarily use Paula's Choice as well. It's the only line that I have completely loved. I'm 38 & was still getting breakouts in the past couple years. I switched to PC, & only get clogged pores on nose & chin now & then when I don't wash well or hormonal times of the month. They didn't offer an eye cream for a long time, so I used an OTC cream, but they recently came out with one that I will purchase when my tube runs dry. I love that you can email them & they will do a free email consultation about your skin, and of course they will try to sell you more than you need. But they suggested the perfect products for me, I didn't buy them all. I And I LOVE that there products are NOT TESTED ON ANIMALS!!! They usually have a sale of some sort going on & the products last a long time. If you have any issues, they work with you on returns/refunds, but I haven't had any issues. I an allergic to some creams, but I have had no issues with their products

Sarcastic girl- do you dilute the Castile soap or use it straight? What's your skin type? I've been on the hunt for natural skin care that works with my very dry skin for years. I've been doing a lot of reading on natural skin care lately. My skin is VERY dry normally. I used avocado oil on my face first, it made my skin very soft, but it took a minute for it to soak in. Then I started using camellia oil, I love it! I've had no dry patches or flaky skin since I first started with the avocado oil. The camellia absorbs right in and doesn't look greasy at all. And my skin is smooth, no bumps or irritation. I'm guessing it's been about a month now. A lot of people LOVE coconut oil, but I've read it can clog pores. And some people say it feels great at first, but it ends up being drying. Everyone is different, just something to be aware of. For oily skin, I've read that jojoba oil is good. I don't have time to explain why, but anyone interested can google it. I have some jojoba oil, but I don't have oily skin, so I can't say from experience. I'm short of time. Good day to all!

I've had problems with dry skin since we moved to Texas and recently started using a home made body butter. It's 3 T. shea butter, 1 T. coconut oil, and 6-8 drops of tea tree oil. I have eczema on my back and this butter has really helped! It still gets itchy, but not like it was.
