If you purchased Starkist tuna over the past few years, there is a class action lawsuit on them. The website is tunalawsuit.com. The directions given are clear. They are giving either $25 cash or $50 product voucher. I eat a lot of tuna so I went for the voucher.

I think it was for "underfilling" the tuna - as in only 5 oz tuna in a six ounce can. Guess I will have to google it now. Not a tuna eater so didn't pay close attention to the news blip.

It is for under filling. I'm applied for $50 of tuna. Going to tell my kids to apply also I think they all eat tuna.

I thought the tuna had pieces of crystal in them that looked like glass but wasn't. But maybe that is a different news story.
I won't eat tuna because of the potential of mercury, but DH loves it. That being said, he's gotten picky lately and the two cans in the pantry have been there at least six months.
We always buy Starkist, though. Get the voucher and donate it to a soup kitchen and write the $50 off on your taxes as a charitable donation.

Without tuna and noodles the majority of the 60 somethings would not have survived. I still like it but the carbs in the noodles are not good dieting.
DH is deathly allergic to tuna. Or used to be. His allergies are better as he gets older and away from pollutants in the work place and air.
I can now eat tuna in his presence. -banana-I love the 100 calorie packs to carry with me. I used to live on tuna before DH and I dated.

Love tuna sandwiches. And now that I have 4 cats I have to open 4 cans at a time or they trap me in the kitchen and threaten bodily harm. God forbid they should share in licking a can clean.

Get the voucher and donate it to a soup kitchen and write the $50 off on your taxes as a charitable donation. Why would I donate something I won't eat? Just because you won't eat it doesn't mean others won't. Do you really think they would decline the donation. They probably would use it.

Get the voucher and donate it to a soup kitchen and write the $50 off on your taxes as a charitable donation. Why would I donate something I won't eat? Would you donate money to the Food Bank and tell them what they could and couldn't spend the money on? I'm sure Food Bank gives out lots of things I don't eat but that doesn't mean I want folks to do without so I just donate the money and it's up to them to find it's best use. ETA: That's a hard call. Eggs are good for you, eggs are bad for you, coffee is good for you, coffee is bad for you. I don't eat red meat but is it going to be harmful for the less fortunate to eat. Probably, probably not depending on which talking head you listen too. A steady non stop diet of tuna would probably be harmful though.

I went for the cash. I buy tuna because it is shelf-stable protein. Living in hurricane territory, it's one of those things that you keep around. I thought we might have to make use of it in the days to come, with a storm off the coast.

We buy tuna here. The kids LOVE "Tuna Helper" (really!), and I like tuna salad. Thanks for the info!

The potato chip bags and other chip bags are pumped full of air to cushion the product a little.

Tuna is a little more complex than whether eggs or red meat is "bad" for you. Most canned tuna contains mercury. It is particularly harmful to children. Why would I specifically donate something that I believe is harmful? That's not telling people what they can and cannot eat. It is saying that I am not going to specifically donate something that I find harmful. What wold you donate that ISN'T harmful? Just about everything we eat is full of crap.

I haven't bought a can of tuna for as long as I can remember. I never could stand the stuff. I liked fresh tuna when someone caught it and brought it to me to cook, but canned tuna was just icky! Guess I gotta miss the giveaway money.

How is it fraudulent? You were entitled to something and instead of using it for yourself, you decided to donate it to charity. If you weren't entitled to it, it would be fraudulent no matter what you did with the voucher.

I thought it was the value of whatever you were donating. If that's true, I'm donating the girls higher end clothing vs selling it at a garage sale and taking a much larger deduction on my taxes. That stuff was expensive.

It is the lesser of cost or other basis or fair market value. So, generally fair market value, but limited to your cost or other basis.
