Yup, I've met two food princesses in my life. Neither of them lasted in my life. Both of them thought being picky princesses meant they were special. Yup, alone and special, that's a goal in life.

My pickiness is a mixture of tastes I don't enjoy, a few textures I hate (wilted/cooked greens make me gag!) and dietary restrictions due to allergies/gut sensitivity (this is the hardest- no dairy, eggs, flour or sugar) i can always find something on a menu though, and almost never send anything back. The only exception is if they serve a meal with ingredients that weren't listed and are completely overwhelming. Even then I usually apologize and state that I wasn't aware this was how it was served and offer to pay for a replacement. I have never been charged extra, and the waitstaff has always been pleasant. of course, I'm friendly and sweet as pie when I need to be. so that helps.

I don't like my food to touch, but there's very little I won't eat. Sushi. BBQ sauce. Cottage cheese.
hhmmm...not much else off the top of my head.
DH on the other hand has an aversion to vegetables,
- no broccoli in any form
- no raw mushrooms; will tolerate sauteed mushrooms
- no raw tomatoes; can handle pureed tomatoes
- no artichokes
- no eggplant
- no capers
- no sesame seeds
- no cucumbers
- will barely tolerate squash
- will tolerate green beans
- will tolerate asparagus
basically, he likes carrots.
Also, once he's locked in on a type of food for a meal, he has to have that. For example, if I say we're having chili and some how our plans change, he must go find chili. Otherwise, he won't eat that meal. Then, at some point in the next few days, he has to find that meal.

IMO you only put ketchup on mediocre fries. I hardly ever put ketchup on Wendy's or Chick Fil-A fries. You put gravy on fries. Or mayo. Or ranch dressing. Or cheese.

I am the least picky person in my family, but I would still have asked for no mayo, lettuce, or onions. Mayo is disgusting and anything with it will be sent back! I can pick lettuce and onions off, so that isn't such a big deal. DH and DD are way worse. DH won't eat anything that touches lettuce. He swears lettuce leaves a taste. He eats the most bland sandwiches, meat and cheese, nothing else. Mayo is a deal breaker. I would have picked everything else off but if there is mayo on it back it goes

There are a few things I just don't like. Raw tomatoes and onions, olives, cooked greens. The rest are food allergies. And it's a total PIA for me at times. Especially as I've developed new allergies in the last five years.

I know several people who don't care for mayonnaise. I have a cousin who refuses to acknowledge its existence. I like mayo. Don't much like mustard, though, except mixed with mayo in potato salad or deviled eggs.

I detest ketchup. I don't like the taste or smell. When I was a kid my mom would make me clear the table and I had to put away the ketchup bottle I would make gagging noises (a bit dramatic but that was how I felt)
When I order a hamburger it is no ketchup. If there is even a drop of ketchup (I can usually smell it) it is sent back.
However I will make cocktail sauce for shrimp. Had it tonight. The horseradish somehow makes the ketchup ok.

I'm reasonably picky about food, but most people don't realize it. If there's something I don't like I'll pick it off without comment. If it's a main component of the dish, I just don't order that dish. I don't have food allergies so can't see making a big deal over not liking something. Most of the time I'm just grateful if they get the main dish correct, there's no way I'm complicating things by having a list of things to remove.

I'm a pretty easygoing eater except that I don't like organ meats such as liver. I avoid mayo and butter because to me they're forms of grease and I don't need the calories or the fat. I'll scrape them off if I encounter them in a sandwich.
I have one brother who was and always will be a picky eater. When he had to travel on business to Asia my SIL would pack peanut butter and cheese crackers and candy so he wouldn't starve. I, on the other hand, loved the food in India.

Reading this thread made me realize that I am the bestest and easiest eater ever. Out of all the things mentioned there is nothing I wouldn't eat.
Yay me!!
BTW here is my little "study" based only on myself and my kids. Many foods that I am eating now I never ate as a child, simply bc they didn't exist in my country. On a flip side - I made all kinds of foods for my kinds when they were toddlers and now they wouldn't touch some of them.
So, for all your moms with new babies who worry what kind of eaters they will be - I think it's a huge crap shoot and what you are feeding them now might or might not make any difference

There are some things I won't eat now because I ate them so much as a kid I grew tired of them.
I don't like baked chicken. Mom would make chicken and rice, and the chicken fat would render in the rice, making it greasy. She loves it, I grew tired of it in my teen years. I do not like the texture of baked chicken.
Grilled or fried is fine, but not baked.
I grew tired of roast beef, and I do not like lamb. The issue with lamb is a taste thing.
I have no issues with tomatoes or onions. I only like mushrooms unless it is a cream of mushroom soup used in green bean casserole. Love green beans.
Cannot eat eggs in any form.
I don't understand people who can't eat garlic, how do they eat Italian food?
I prefer for my foods not to touch, if I want the tastes to mix together, I would mix them.
I don't understand the hate for ketchup.

There are a few foods I don't care for and in general I don't like condiments. However I don't consider myself picky because I'll try anything and if I don't like it I consider that my problem, not the chefs.

Mixed picky here. There's a broad range of stuff I will eat and very, very few things I won't. So not that picky in terms of food types. Same with cuisines, there's not really any cuisine or ethnic food I don't enjoy.
But since I like to cook and really enjoy food, I'm getting much pickier about the quality of the food. Badly made food or food with crappy quality ingredients just isn't worth it. And the more I know about factory farming, the more I avoid meats and eggs from animals that haven't been treated humanely.
So I'm one of the weirdos who will happily eat anchovies on pizza (in that way I'm not picky), but won't eat pizza at all if it's junk. And as much as I love eggs and egg dishes, I mostly eat those at home so I know where the eggs came from.

Aside from meat, there really isn't much I don't eat. Off the top of my head there's Miracle Whip and cinnamon raisin bagels/bread. I like raisins and love cinnamon, I just don't like those together in bread form. I remember when I changed teams at work last year and my buddy who was on the same team made bagels for my first day. I was so excited because her homemade everything bagels are awesome. She made cinnamon raisin bagels.

IDK I never have liked them. My mom always tried to get me to eat them as a child and it was a no go. I gave it the good ole college try as an adult and forced myself to eat some scrambled eggs a couple of times but nope can't make myself like them.
Same with sweet potatoes. I've cooked them a million different ways but just can't get myself to like eating them.

Yogurt is another one I've never been able to train myself to olerate eating. I've tried but I start gagging as soon as I open the container and smell the stuff. So I'll die at 95 instead of 120, big whoop.
