I bought the Today Special value from QVC today and bought a turquoise Vitamix. It's the professional model, comes with the tamper, 2 cookbooks and an instruction CD. 6 payments and free shipping. I just decided I'd looked at it long enough, just buy the darn thing, so I did! Should be here by Aug. 31. (Haven't told DH yet, but he won't care.)

I hope so Artemis, I love a smoothie for breakfast, but that's about all my little Ninja is good for. Dh is going to need a better food intake too, so this might help get some things into him he would never eat, but likely would drink. Soup recipes sound terrific, and I'd love to get away from eating meat everyday, veggies and fruit would be sooo good. |

Granny...I do smoothies everyday. I hate vegetables. I find that as long as I put a dark fruit, like blueberries, i can drink almost anything. I always start with a half of frozen banana, some frozen berries, and I've been adding kale, spinach, etc. If the drink isn't green, you don't taste it. Good luck!!

I love my Vitamix. I had one for 8 years and gave it to my son when the twin grandbabies were born....then I bought myself a new one. I love to make minestrone soup and smoothies in it.

Is it sad that I care more about how well this gizmo pulverizes and shreds its' waste than what comes out of the spout? I overgrow lots of vegetables during the summer months and buy a lot of hard-to-compost citrus during the other months. Something that would pulp inputs and produce outputs that nobody seriously expects me to consume would be quite attractive to me.
Turquoise would be a good color for me. It would go with the painters' tape that's girdled the kitchen for the last five years.
