My trip is coming up. Accompanying my daughter to her friends wedding. I'll be there 4 days. I don't have to have a passport to go there but should I take it anyway? Sneak out for a side trip to Haiti or Cuba? Ideas on special places to see needed.

Go to El Yunque rain forest. If you're on Facebook, look up Tour with Ellis. His contact information is there.

Yes, take the passport.
My DH tells me take your passport. You're going to a 3rd world country and never know when the revolution will break out. The shorter less scary version. Be prepared for the worst.

Bwahahahahaha Puerto Rico is not a third world country. It isn't a country at all. Puerto Rico is a US territory. No need for a passport, but if you decide on a side trip to another island, it doesn't hurt to bring it along just in case.

Puerto Rico has plenty to keep a person occupied for 4 days, I would rent a car and drive to the West side of the island one of the days, beautiful beaches and the sunset on that side of the island is gorgeous. I took several trips there for work in 05-09.

We vacationed on the island of Vieques, short ferry or plane ride from San Juan, and it was amazing! Best beaches ever seen and the 'kayak trip on the bioluminescent bay' all of it was fantastic!
