Maybe he is not really broke but trying to hide the money. That new girlfriend of his (good looking, btw!) is probably not cheap.

There is broke and there is broke broke. - My definition of broke (negative amount in the bank account, no cash on hand, car tank on E and payday is 2 weeks away) is probably different from Tiki Barber definition of broke (cannot buy the 100K car but settling for the 75K one, instead of busying the 3K suit, setttling for the 1k one). - Do you know how many time Donal Trump had to file for bankruptcy? Last time I check he was still flying on his private jet.

What's a Tiki Barber? Just kidding, well actually I really don't know who Tiki Barber is, but I also don't care.

What's a Tiki Barber? [image] A good-looking former football player. I can't tell you what position he played, or for which city, or when he retired. Whatever happened to the smilie gallery? I need a blush icon.

Yeah, I feel really sorry for him.
He is not THAT good-looking, either. Ditched his wife and kids. Yeah, I feel really bad for him.

Here's what's really happening with "Tiki". ( Gosh, why wouldn't he change his name to something like " Bill " ? ) To me, anyone who goes around with the moniker "Tiki" is trouble anyway.
Tiki took a powder after spreading his manly sperm around to produce four or five children with Ginny. He thought he'd start over with the opportunistic blonde bimbo Traci Lynn Johnson, who evidently thought that real work ( as an intern ) was too difficult. Tiki has now entered his mid-thirties, an age at which most NFL players have taken some hits, and are less desirable to their teams. His TV career fizzled out after he was let go from his commentary contract and some efforts on such shows as "Cash Cab". Per Wikipedia, (his publicist probably put this in), "Barber is pursuing business and investment opportunities, reportedly inking a contract to serve as a partner and investor in O Beverages LLC, the maker of fruit-infused bottled water[13] as well as opening a high-tech cycling gym in NYC."
In the meantime, Ginny's family and friends are furious. Tiki is finding out about the wonderful world of child support, "former standard of living"clauses for his ex and family in the divorce settlement, and will soon be meeting up with the phrase "forensic accountant." If Tiki's luck is really, really bad, or Ginny has a really, really good attorney, Tiki may be introduced to the significant alphabetical combination "I.R.S." Run, Tiki, run. His twin brother Ronde may be talked into holding some of his cash for him, but Ronde had better be careful not to get caught up in Tiki's B.S.

I'm a Bucs fan and have been a big fan of Ronde's for years. I also thought Tiki was okay until he left his pregnant wife for the proverbial newer model. A few years ago there was an article in the sports section about the brothers and how financially responsible they were. They were raised by a single mother. As teenagers, if they asked for some new gotta-have whatever, she would sit them down, show them how much money was coming in, what bills need to be paid, and explained why it wasn't possible. When they were graduating college and being recruited by the NFL, they were smart enough not to hire agents, personal coaches, etc. with a promise of a share of future earnings like many potential players do to increase their chances of being drafted. They also said they selected their own financial advisers not just someone recommended by agents or whomever (like a lot of player do) because then the advisers have more loyalty to the agents who give them referrals than they do to the player. Apparently its common that while players make good salaries, many have to pay so many other people a set percentage of their pay that they take home a surprisingly much smaller amount.
Guess Tiki's ego lead him to forget his earlier lessons in responsibility.

Apparently Tiki failed to calculate just how much money he would have left after paying spousal support and child support. Sounds like momma needs to put foot to azz for him his leaving pregnant wife.
You know he's going to be the joke of the locker room bc everyone knows he's coming back for money.

Stupid is as stupid does.
He may not be broke enough to the point that he is homeless today or tomorrow, but he probably doesn't have enough money to last him until 80 without getting another job. His days of running the ball are over.

He's not real broke yet, he's going through divorce broke. It's totally different. Real broke means you're actually broke. Savings all gone, very little or no money coming in, past due bills piling up. That's broke. Going through divorce broke is just trying to keep your child support and alimony payments as small as possible. If Bill Gates was getting divorced next week he'd be "broke" right now too.

well umm he is going back to work as a running back (or at least trying to), so I think that means he needs money and stuff (which is my definition of broke- in need of money)
