Here is one costume from Violet Vixen. If I had my old figure back, I'd wear this just for the hell of it!

One poster on the event's FB page suggested rustic Steampunk drag but I'm not sure how that works. Rustic I get. Steampunk I get but seems pricey and I don't know how a Medicare-eligible hetero does drag Right now I am leaning to some sort of sleek black outfit with a gorgeous spiderweb lace tunic I saw on Etsy and a black spider fascinator headpiece I googled somewhere. If DH would cooperate I would do the cute sushi costume I saw online and he could be the soy sauce packet. Alas, not a prayer. I may just get him the t-shirt that is sort of a sticky name tag saying, "Hello, my name is I don't do this costume shit"Keep the creative juices flowing my way! One of the best costumes I ever saw was one I didn't understand immediately. A random guy at the bar was wearing nicer street clothes. Button down shirt, sport coat, nice slacks. He had a "Hi, my name is" sticker on his lapel on which he had written "Marriage Counselor". After about a half hour and I couldn't figure it out, I asked my friend what the costume was. She said the guy had been married and divorced 4 times. Sweeeeet! The OP could get DH a T-shirt that says "Fun Hater" and she could go as the "Fun Lover".

The Beachgoer costume would be fun! What about something inspired by Downton Abbey? Flapper, Dowager, maid, etc.

I like internet shopping... I always manage to find whatever 'odd' thing I want or need without ever having to visit the 'normal' places.

Another thing you should consider is if your city has a costume shop that will rent you something. That way you can get a higher quality costume for less money. You would have to lock that down now, before everyone else starts thinking about Halloween.
