I'm doing well.
I'm busy, busier than I was prior to leaving the other place. Most of my clients came with me, and a picked up a bunch of new ones that didn't want to make the 20 mile drive to my old office. I'm doing mortgages for the same bank, and another one. I'm on the list for one more bank, but they haven't assigned any to me. Whatever. The other bank more than makes up for it.
So, do I hire another support staff, or buy myself a new jet ski?

You hire a law clerk that can do most of the heavy lifting, thus freeing you to do an 3:1 review freeing up your time.

YAY!!!
Sell two of the old jet skis to contribute to the price of the new one.
Do you have the physical space to add another person to your office?

Do you have the physical space to add another person to your office? I can add one secretary and one attorney. Or 2 secretaries. So which do you really need more of? A secretary to do the admin work or an attorney to do the "attorney" work? And if you hire another attorney, will that then up the need for a second secretary for that attorney? As an attorney who worked in a small law office for a short period of time, I was able to do most of my own secretarial work. But that isn't always the case. But really, hire SOMEONE! Then when you do buy your shiny new jet ski you'll have the time to really enjoy it!

I agree with Flamingo; figure out which work you need to farm out. Maybe a paralegal?

In regard to the tax issue, have you started donating to non-profits in return for your name on their wall or a t-shirt?
Since it sounds like you need another secretary regardless, post for that asap! We can help you screen applicants. How easily could you find a lawyer--with whom you want to work--to join you?

NO one more attorney! don't want the competition within your business!

Congrats, swamp.
If having some support staff and another attorney will free you up a bit and you can do it, then go for it.

Congratulations on the business growth!
I agree with two persons. But I think that you should scout the area a little and consider what is for hire. (I assume that your area is not very big, so qualified employees may not be abundant.) Since training people usually takes some time and you are the only trainer available, getting quality employees who stay fro a while and get along is extra important.
So, if you would hire an attorney, would (s)he stay for awhile, or just for a year or so, and then move on? Would a secretary stay longer, and can you get quality ones?
In case the attorneys are career people aiming to move on and the secretaries are skilled but more settled down, two of the latter kind may be easier. On the other hand, with an attorney and a legal secretary, the pecking order will be quite clear.

Secretary + Paralegal. They can do both secretarial functions (explain upfront it will be required at times) + some lifting, won't take clients if moving on
