LOL - I can't tell if this is tongue-in-cheek - or if you are actually suggesting that a new car w/ power windows and heated mirrors is a way to wealth?

Don't you remember the post on YM phil, where the guy said it was necessary to avoid getting carjacked?
And welcome!

There is a commercial I just saw that sounds like this. "True or False, the designated driver drinks less alcohol than everyone else".
The commercial says "false, the DD drinks NO alcohol". I say its true -- drinking no alcohol would still be drinking less.

LMAO, I got my car when my stepmom's mom died back in 2002. She requested manual window cranks and locks because she was afraid of the power shorting and not being able to get out of the car. I think she was afraid she'd plunge over a bridge?!

Dem, Do you have kids? I used to think TVs and DVD players were silly. Now I'm seriously considering it. A little money is worth it to avoid listening to a fussing baby. My car isn't fully loaded, and I don't need some of the frills that I do have, but when I got in my car this morning with 19 degree temperatures and a windchill of 0, I was damn glad for my heated seats!

Yup, I used to think a built in DVD player and heated leather seats were stupid too. Until I had kids. Baby puke cleans up so much better off leather than cloth seats. The DVD player is self explanatory.

Well my second step to wealth is to not have kids. You'll have so much more money because you won't need heated leather seats and a DVD player.

I remember that post from a couple of years back. I think that was the most hilarious thread I ever read on YM

shandi I smile just to think of it. The best part was that the poor guy was so earnest. He really meant every word. I did literally laugh out loud several times reading that. I laughed so much at it my BF thought I had gone nuts! I got him to read the thread but he seemed a bit nonplussed

I got my car with heated leather seats, heated mirrors and push button windows 2 years ago. I don't know how to heat the mirrors I would need to look it up in the manual so a total waste since I can't read. I love the heated leather seats and remote starting. I seldom use remote start but on a cold morning or when leaving someplace late it is nice to have the car warm. I use the heated leather seats way more often than than I ever dreamed I would almost everyday in the winter. It feels so good on my back when I am tired and if my hands are cold I can put one behind my back at stoplights. I also really like the heated and cooled cup holder. I got a couple of ceramic mugs the really heat up nice. If you start with a mug of hot tea when you go out and it cools while you shop you can put it on cold when you drive and have ice tea on the way home.
My car has the stereo system that is pretty worthless to me, it would play a DVD or CD but I don't have any. The DVD wouldn't work because I didn't get the screen for the back seat. I don't have kids so have only had someone in the back seat about twice.
The thing is all the features came standard I think my car with taxes and license and everything was under $21K base price under 18K. A basic car wouldn't be much cheaper and I got lifetime oil changes free thrown in. I have 15K miles on it now and had at least 5 oil changes I get one every three months if I want one.

I'll give a third vote for the whole leather seat/barf thing. But adding heat to that equation doesn't help.

You kids are crrazy!! You could save even more if you had kids like mine that fell asleep after about 5 minutes in the car. No need for TV or DVD's. I swear my son would fall asleep between our house and the grocery store that's about 3 miles from our house. I figured he did it so he would have to talk to me.
