log in place on my phone went away

I can't login to my phone because the place to type my password does not show up.  I turned it off and back on a few times.  I held the off button down for 10 seconds a few times and down for 2 minutes once.  Saw to do that on google.  Neither worked.  Any one know what to do? or have any ideas?

Is it an iPhone or an Android? If you are sure you turned it all the way off (powered down) & didn't just put it to sleep; remove the battery, wait 30 seconds & then put it back and turn on.

If that doesn't work, plug it in to charge it for a while, then try again.

it is a moto g by motorola.  Yes I turned it completely off, did that several times.  I do not think the battery will come out.  It is an adroid.

Did you hand it to a young person and utter a plaintive "please"? That is my go to strategy.

Can you get to settings? If yes, go settings, device ID. You can unlock your phone from there it says.

Motorola portal says something a little different though:

I tried that.  It did not work.  Thank you for the suggestions and help.  I am going to the phone store and see if they can help.

i took the phone to the phone repair place, they said that some phones with lollipop operating system have this problem.  They said I have to send the phone back to Motorola to have it fixed.

I have been on online chat with motorola for last half hour or so, we cleared cache and reformatted. still no luck.

took a while and I lost all my data but phone is working again
