Please refer to reply #6. But if you won't read reply #6, let me repeat it: Referring to the word is not the same as using the word. Some folks have a hard time wrapping their heads around that fact. Yes, I agree. Using isn't the same as referencing. I don't think it's worth making a big deal over. It isn't. Nor would a white Republican be roasted for referring to the word in a serious discussion. Of course if a white republican used the word in a derogatory manner toward an individual or group of people, then he would be roasted. But then so would a white democrat also be roasted. Reference and usage are two entirely different things.

... there is a double standard here. If a white republican had said the same thing in the same context, ... I hold different people to different standards based on the totality of who they are based on their life experiences. I did notice that.

I hold different people to different standards based on the totality of who they are based on their life experiences. I did notice that. Glad that it comes through even just in written form. I think it is important to be able to see individuals as individuals and not just as carbon copies of me (as the Golden Rule suggests).

Must be a different Golden Rule than I'm familiar with. "Do onto others as you would have them do onto you" because you set the standard of how others should wish to be treated?
