I find people fascinating, even though I am an introvert I do like to meet new people. I think my life is more rich from the different people I know. I tend to make friends/acquantainces very easily, I am very friendly and laid back.
My thoughts are this....
I have a core group of friends, there are people on the fringe that I like as well. Because this group is getting to be quite large there are some disliking going on between a few of them. Don't know why or what happened I don't really care.
How do YOU handle this situation.
Me, I continue being the friendly person that I am ignore it.

Like any other pack of animals, you let the relationships sort them selves out.

How do I handle other people not getting along? I don't. That's their issue, not mine.

I like to whisper into each of their ears and stir the pot even more.

Like MPL said, if the rest of the pack has issues, they are not my problem. Life is too short and already too complicated to worry about crap that should have been dealt with on the school playground. If they want to act like kids, then let them. They can badmouth each other, duke it out on Facebook and Twitter about it until their tweets rot.

Whether or not people clash is not your problem. If you try to meddle, all that it's going to do is come back and bite you in the butt.
Just stay out of it and ignore. Be as Switzerland as possible.

Your description of the new social circle sounds a lot like every parent's worst nightmare - people who grow up to be adults who are legally allowed to drink and be independent but still have the mental and emotional capacity of middle schoolers.

I thought it just sounded like a normal group of women.

I'm also way too literal for my own good so it sometimes takes me a while to catch on, but I'm starting to think of Nutty in the same category as Loony and she who shall not be named... there is no way that all this is real or if it was that they wouldn't die of shame or embarrassment at half of it.

Maybe. my wife even gets pissy with her best friend sometimes. Then I have to listen to the bitching.

It's the overall description of all the social interactions of the group that make it sound like Honky Tonk Hell, right down to the fights about who's sitting on whose man's lap. It all just sounds like the kind of stupid stuff that middle schoolers get embroiled in and consumed with, but with 40 - 50 year old alcoholics and losers instead.

I agree that this particular group of friends has some characters in it but they ain't crazy. I have other friends I hang out with that are normal. But hey life should be full of a variety of people, makes the world interesting. I have had soccer mom friends and that's just not me anymore. Like Archie said I think most of it is normal women stuff, I like the fact that they are honest, sure beats being a stepford wife.

I think it is the crowd that she hangs out with. Based in her descriptions to date. I am picturing some hard core drinkers that hang out at bars with other hard core drinkers. If that's true, I can see her posts being real. That said, if they are real then I hope nutty finds a better class of friends

Like any other pack of animals, you let the relationships sort them selves out. I am also wondering if you are really an introvert in the classical sense, if you hang with a pack of friends. I do not read you as an introvert. At all.
YMMV. FWIW.

Do you want to find your friends, your men, in bars? My life is full of a variety of people, although right now, most are restricted to those who walk through the door where I work or where I live & shop.
Characters/crazy depends on your definition I suppose. I might be willing to swap you some patient/visitor pairs, for drunk/not crazy/around your age? though. Act fast, this offer might expire this weekend.

Now I want chocolate. Nancy, not sure if its you, the chocolate expert - but I bought some Wild Ophelia chocolate only to notice on the label its somehow connected to Vosge's. Confused. Was a dark chocolate bar with artisan peppers grown in the US. New Orleans Chili Bar or some such?
(Cheaper than Mo's Dark Chocolate Bacon Bar, but not as transcendant either.)

While I am comfortable with both, I prefer small over large groups, being with friends rather than a mix of friends and strangers, and listening rather than talking for talking's sake.

Vosges is actually a company out of Chicago, despite the French-sounding name. Vosges was the original company, and it is still in business. I've had a number of their bars, and liked most of what I tried. They are not organic or Fair Trade, but they are inventive in their combinations. Wild Ophelia, also based in Chicago, is a certified Fair Trade, non GMO chocolate, using only American add-in ingredients from all over the U.S. to not only brand their bars as artisan, but American regional. They do indeed use peppers from New Orleans, along with bananas and coconut from Hawaii and beef jerky from Idaho. Both companies are owned by the same individual.

Her social circle sounds kind of like the PTA here (minus the bar setting)

Beef jerky from Idaho sounds good.
