Estimated tax payment due tomorrow June 15. Government hacked - every federal employee personal information stolen; IRS hacked - 100,000 tax accounts breached.
With all the data breaches that had happened very recently, would anyone feel safe to pay taxes online? Maybe a stupid question - just curious to see what the Tax Talk commnunity thinks. Thanks.

I filed online so I paid estimates online & printed out the confirmation page. Usually I don't print that but it's not a usual year (hack was over 2 months ago)

Me Too, I almost forgot to pay my pass through withholding.
Set up my future payments for Sept and December now so I don't have to remember.

If I didn't work for the federal government I might think about whether it was safe. Since I do work for them and the Chinese government most likely has my personnel file and security clearance information I wouldn't care if I had to make payments with the IRS. It's all already compromised.

It's all already compromised. I was listening to Rick Edelman and he made the point that he no one should freak out because of the IRS data breach for the simple reason that your information has already been stolen. Most likely more than once.

I'm a federal retiree and I read that the information taken in the hack was back to around 1980. I was still an employee then. Whoever was responsible for the hack has everything they want about me.
