Since its an anonymous board, figured we could compare notes. Also hoping this may help cheer me up. (potential career paths & what people live on in certain areas)
ETA- by what do you make? I meant how much money
ETA 2- also if you are part of a family / team...what does your partner do & how much do they make? (and size of family?) ETA 3- hopefully people don't take the "cheer me up" part the wrong way. Just happy to see what it is possible to make it on, so I have some ideas as I transition from the military. (I am a tremendous worry wart).

Operations Management I work to make money (mostly spent on my kids or their kids). - Start ups were most lucrative & interesting; makes regular corporate work really boring. I am tinkering with retirement now. Washington state / transplanted from the North East.I have never worked at Microsoft, Amazon, Boeing, Google, or Facebook

Social Security and VA disability. Normally we take no money from investments. DH worked for an employee owned company, is 71 and has been retired for 20 years. We've never had a 401K or company pension. Sold the company stock, have never looked back. Live in NW Arkansas, the home of Walmart, Sams Club, JB Hunt transportation and Tyson Foods.
Like Crone, we do what we want, when we want. Have no mortgage, car payments or credit card debt. And I'm another one of the many here that are part of the YNAB cult.

I'm a blue collar worker. I'm somewhere in the middle of the middle income range. Of course, that depends on what definition of middle income you use. I live in the southeastern part of the country.

DH and I are both military retirees, turned SAHP's. We keep busy with our kids, volunteering and a few times have gotten sucked into part time employment again.
We designed our lifestyle around our pensions, and some years supplement by spending vs reinvesting our dividends. When we have earned income, first priority is to our Roth IRA's.

I work for a non-profit. I'm a mid-level manager. I make more than the average household income, in a LCOL area. So I'm lucky I can cover all my needs and quite a few of my wants (it helps I don't have kids).

I'm in Supplier Diversity management in a large healthcare company. I find companies that are owned by minorities, women, vets, people with disabilities, to do business with and work with our Business Development teams to write proposals in response to RFP's.
I live in SE VA and make in the low 90's.

I retired as an actuary a year ago; the last few years I was working I made between $200-$250K/year (depended on bonuses)
Now, I never know what to fill in when I do e-Rewards surveys and they ask what you make. DH gets $24K in SS, I get a $10K pension and then we take whatever we need form the investments. Over the last year, thank God, our net worth increased anyway because of investment results, realized and unrealized.

Bakery manager (one of several) at an independently owned business in the Boston suburbs.
$40,000-ish depending on how many hours I work.
I have to work a lot during holiday seasons, but I'm free to shorten my days or take days off during the off seasons, days other than my vacation days.
Three weeks paid vacation and a ton of flexibility in my hours.
DH makes enough that I often partake of the extra time off.

Department Administrator (as in Business Officer, not admin assistant), for an academic department at a state university Seattle area Currently, high 80s, should hit low 90s come Sept (if we get at least 2% in raises).
I'll add that I am the sole income for a family of 3-4, plus 2 dogs.

I work in higher ed administration. I trained to be a lawyer and fell into this career. Middle management or senior management, depending on your perspective. Currently make mid-$70s, though come January that'll go up with the 2.5% raise we are all getting.
I live in a big city in the mid-west.

I work for a company most people hate, making more than most people think I should. So I'm not super inclined to say the industry. I'm a CFO working in financial services. My base salary is 170k. My bonus and stocks typically add up to 170k in a good year. I live in the western US.
