With that seat -FIFA president- comes a lot of power. It is not just in the sport. In many countries, soccer is so important that is integral part of the economy. Having somebody on an international stage that knows you and can favor you means more than just a good connection, it means a lot of money, it means a lot of influence. When a country organizes World Cup it could mean a total renounce of the economy- look at the 1970 World Cup in Mexico. It brought the country back from the brink of collapse. Many of the soccer officials in these countries after scoring an "economical win" due to an international event that they helped organize, get into politics. They have the name, fame, all they need is votes and people will vote for them. Becoming a League official in many countries is similar to running for political office with the difference that they can bribe the hell out of each other without being noticed.

I also thought it was disgusting that he was re-elected, I also wondered why the US is even willing for it to be known we are bidding for the 2027? World Cup after they made it known that to get the games you need to pay significant bribes. Obviously corruption is the Norm in politics.

Keep watching. The investigation is spreading. More individuals under investigation according to the Swiss Attorney General this morning. Graft and corruption may run pretty deep.
