I'm cleaning out my kids' closets, something they are not particularly interested in doing whenever they visit (they are well into adulthood now) and when I can get them to look at their stuff, it's a walk down memory lane for them but they say they don't want the stuff itself. I've offered it to them one last time, and there are no takers. I was going to PM Sum Dum Gai about this, but I don't know if it's really his thing and/or there are other mid-1990s video game players on here... I have probably 50 to 70 video game CDs, and an amazing amount of manuals to go with them. They seem to be mostly Windows 95 versions. Some look like they've hardly been opened, and others are a bit more used. The CDs are all in their cases though on some the original artwork is gone (it could be in the box of manuals). I also have a couple of Sega Genesis 32X games (with AC adaptor but not cords from unit to tv); a Nintendo Gamecube with adaptor and cords, an original Playstation with adaptor and cords, and a few controllers (one is for the Gamecube, another just says Nintendo, and another says InterAct Barracuda that fits the Playstation). Is there any market for this stuff? Is it minimal to nonexistent? Should I post it on FreeCycle and see if there are any takers? Just put it all out with the trash? Try to sell certain games (if any are potentially sellable) and the rest? And then there are the Pokemon cards. Most show a lot of wear. But I came across a binder with plastic sleeves that some of the nicer cards are in, and those cards look new. There are about 25 in the binder, and my son tells me one is a holographic Mew promo, whatever that is. Does anyone know any more about this than I do? I don't want to spend days on the web trying to research something that's worthless. On the other hand, if there's potential value, I'd rather keep it out of the landfill.

My son loves old systems. He loves yard saling.
That said, as far as pricing, he picked up an original play station with adaptor, one controller and copy of vigilante 8 for 1$ yesterday. His original xbox was 5$ no adaptors or controllers, sega genesis 2 with cords and 5 games for 5$, play station 2 all cables and 2 controllers 12$, he did pay 40$ for sega Saturn with two controllers. But thinks he overpaid for that one, wishes he'd offered 25.
If you have a list message me and he'll make you an offer. He is interested in game cube. Not sure shipping is worth it though?
He says the 32x is an extension of sega genesis 1... He went on for awhile, I only caught some of it... Do you have games for 32x? He said those might be worth something.

If you want to see if something has value, look up recent sales on ebay. Its a pretty accurate view of market value. Old game systems, there are 'collectors' but it's mostly gamers creating their own museum, so they don't have much value $wise. Pokemon Cards are in with the 7/8/9/10 year old crowd now so if you know someone with kids that age, they'd probably appreciate them. I recently bought new decks for the grandkids at $12/deck. Here's one of the ebay information links for pokemon cards. Looks like First Edition might have "value". www.ebay.com/gds/First-Edition-Pokemon-Cards-Value-of-your-cards-/10000000177642432/g.html

oped, I have two games for the 32X: Space Harrier and Chaotix. Turns out the controller that I thought was for the GameCube doesn't fit the spot. @rockit, the vast majority of the Pokemon cards were played a lot by my kids so the edges show some wear. Good to know they are in with kids these days. I will donate those to our local charity garage sale, and check out the eBay values on the other 25 or so. There are some 1st edition cards.

He said the Chaotix game is rare, you could get 20-25$ for that maybe. 5$ for Space Harrier. Unless you have boxes.

Space Harrier $5 - $40 Chaotix is $40 - $90 Those are the ebay actual sold values. Looks like it might be worth selling those games on ebay. If you don't want to sell them yourself, ebay has a 'sell it for you' service. My mom just sold some stuff that way. They take a chunk of the money, but she said it was worth it to not have to figure out how to do it herself. They sent her a shipping label and she sent the items off to the service. The Pokemon cards are hard to figure out. Wildly varying prices for First Edition mint condition cards. I'm sure the buyers can tell whats a 'real' card vs 'counterfeit' from the pictures. I think I'd do the same thing with your first edition cards. Keep them in the sleeves and send them to the ebay sell for you folks. It would be cool to get some payback on that old stuff

I do have the boxes for Space Harrier and Chaotix.
Looks like some stuff might be worth selling, and other stuff is going to be worth a post for FreeCycle.
Last time I had a combination of good stuff and not so good stuff, I posted on FreeCycle what I had but said the successful bidder would have to take it all, or nothing goes. That way I don't have people picking through and leaving me with the worst to dispose of.

Yay! Definitely the Chaotix with box. I watched an ebay auction close last night and without box it closed at 35$. Space Harrier with box is also much higher. Good luck!

I doubt the old systems and accessories are worth much. You can always hop on eBay and take a quick look. It all depends on how rare an item is and how much people want it. There are always exceptions though.

Without knowing exactly what you have, its hard to say. If you want to try to get top dollar for valuable items in there, you'll have to figure out what they all are and compile a list. You never know... that one game or Pokemon card could fetch more than the rest of the lot combined. I see ebay listings ranging from $1.95 up to $20+ for the Mew. There is always that odd game that holds its value. I still have my copy of Xenogears, and could sell that for $40+ But I swear, I'm going to play it again one day!

Individual cards are really hard to sell on eBay, even if you think you know what you have. Do you have a local comic book shop? Or sports card shop? Both of those kinds of stores will often buy the rare cards for games like Pokemon. Even if you didn't want to sell, they might be able to tell you which of the first edition cards were worth anything, all in one go, versus you having to look things up.
Some things can go for significant amounts of money. We sold an unopened box of magic boosters last summer for over $3k, and could have gotten more from it. But the person who got it was thrilled he got such a great deal.

I've done business with Troll and Toad (purchase of dice and an RPG manual) I see they are selling a Holographic promotional Mew card for $4.00... it may or may not be the one you have... www.trollandtoad.com/p183589.htmlYour stuff only has value to someone who is interested in that particular stuff... so you need to get your stuff into their view... which might mean eBay or some other online 'trading' kind of place. FWIW: with eBay - there's always a handful of stupidly high priced collectibles - I collect specific 50's era wallpockets - and there's always 1 or 2 listings at over $200.00 for supposedly "rare" wall pockets - which routinely come up for sale/auction in the $50 and under range. I got mine for under $40 with shipping. I also purchased 3 of the exact same 'rare' wall pockets (in a 4 month period) for under $30 each (and not the one offered at $99) because I was patient and waited. My sibs and I all have a 'copy' of the wall pocket that hung in our parents kitchen . I'm not sure why there are some really high priced listings are out there for common collectibles. I see this same trend with other collectibles. So, if you are using eBay as a bench mark - dig alittle deeper than first couple of offerings or look at the 'completed' transactions to see what prices people are really buying/selling at.
