Tried Bright Young Women and checked out after two chapters. I cant get into the low self esteem female character who thinks she's fat and unattractive troupe.
Then she witnesses a murder and in the end finds she had the strength to live life all along.
I flipped through to see if anything caught my interest and would make me want to keep reading. Even the ending didn't do it for me.
Back to the library it goes. I stopped feeling guilty about not finishing books a long time ago. Life is too short to force myself to read books I don't like.

I finished this one yesterday morning. I’m pretty ticked off at the characters. I’m mad at the author. Well done.

I really enjoyed Trevor Noah's book as well! I'm trying to read more this year, and I'm at 17 books so far (to be fair, 5 of them were technically short stories (less than 100 pages). I just finished Matthew McCoughaney's Greenlights, which was pretty good. I really enjoyed The Things We Cannot Say and The Warsaw Orphan by Kelly Rimmer. Right now, I'm reading Fourth Wing because my DH wouldn't stop telling me that it was all over TikTok. I'm about 75 pages in, and it's going OK so far. What did you think about Fourth Wing? I loved it, thought the second one was okay, and now have to wait who knows how long for the 3rd one to come out. I liked Fourth Wing - it's not usually the type of book that I read, but I enjoyed it. Some of the sentence structure was terrible, though. I'd have to go back and read a sentence two or three times to understand what the author was trying to say. I liked the story though. I hated Iron Flame. I could have skipped the first 300 pages of the book and not missed anything. That book needed some serious editing. And Xaden used the phrase 'endgame' once - No. Just no.

I recently finished Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune - I liked it. Give it a solid 3.75 stars. I didn't like the end though.
Last night I finished Pines by Blake Crouch, which is the first book in the Wayward Pines trilogy. I enjoyed it. Another 3.75 stars or so. I remember really liking the start of the TV show but then it sort of died out. I remembered parts of the show/book but it still held my interest. I will start book 2 today and see how it goes!

I'm on the 3rd AB that I probably won't finish. 24% through. Every Single Secret by Christina Dodd. I am definitely not paying attention to the story.

I am on book 14 of the A Mystic Caravan Mystery by Amanda M. Lee - fun series and I am getting use out of my Kindle Unlimited for sure.
After I am done with this series I am reading "Only Hard Problems" by Jennifer Estep. It's on loan from the library and due back in about 10 days.

Finished Once in a Millienial by Kate Kennedy.
It's short essays about growing up a girl as a Millienial.
I've never felt so seen. I joked with DH that here's the code book to my psyche.
I laughed, I almost cried and OMG the cringe at reliving some memories.
It helped me put some thoughts and patterns into perspective. Like my issues with being what is actually a normal weight for my size.
I try to be super body positive with the girls but can't myself. When reading her chapter on it I heard echoes of my thoughts and shit I at the time thought I brushed off but clearly absorbed against my will.
I really enjoyed the trip down memory lane too. Team Nsync all the way!

"Oath and Honor" by Liz Cheney is on the agenda this weekend. Reading a series by Robyn Peterman and am on book 1 "Ready To Were".
I have been listening to "Welcome to Nightvale" the book, not the podcast and it is a bit slow for me so I can only listen for about a hour and than find something else.

I picked up "James" from the library today. I own a lot of books that I want to read. When I get one from the library, the ones I own get pushed to the back.

I started Ella Swifts series. Heroin is a female former FBI agent now Forest Service employee searching for murderers. Settings so far are Yellowstone National Park and Glacier NP Bk 2.
1. What's His 2. What's Left 3. What's Wished 4. What's Gone 5. What's Mine I'm on Book 2. So far, I am enjoying the books.
There seem to be hiccups in the AB that are clipped words. IDK what the deal with that is. Shattered Mind is also another book

I finished this book last night. I picked it up at the library because the cover attracted me. I stayed after reading the summary. www.amazon.com/Past-Crimes-Jason-Pinter/dp/1448312124I really enjoyed it. The premise to me was pretty believable given our obsession with True Crime and social media. The dialogue sometimes left a lot to be desired but it wasn't enough to take me out of the story.

For history geeks, The Demon of Unrest by Erik Lawson. About the lead up to attack on Sumpter at the beginning of the civil war. I’m about a quarter of the way through and so far it’s clear Buchanan was completely inept.
Erik Larson also did the Devil and the White city about a serial killer active during the Chicago worlds fair - very good researcher and writer.

The Woman That Would Not Be Silenced by Kate Moore, AB. A brief quote from the books summary.
"1860: As the clash between the states rolls slowly to a boil, Elizabeth Packard, housewife and mother of six, is facing her own battle. The enemy sits across the table and sleeps in the next room. Her husband of twenty-one years is plotting against her because he feels increasingly threatened – by Elizabeth’s intellect, independence, and unwillingness to stifle her own thoughts. So Theophilus makes a plan to put his wife back in her place. One summer morning, he has her committed to an insane asylum."

That sounds good. I will add it to my TBR. I started Table For Two by Amor Towles. He is one of my favorite authors. He wrote A Gentleman in Moscow which in one of my favorite books.

You like it Darker - Stephen King short stories. A return to the original King style - I’m currently creeped out by a squeaky baby carriage.
