Finished Killing the SS: The Hunt for the worst war criminals in history by Bill O-Riely. He's a dick but his books are fantastic. It was both a fascinating and extremely disturbing read given current events. I had no idea how involved the US, The Red Cross and the Vatican Church was in aiding and abetting the Nazis. Now I am reading Wonder Woman: Warbringer. I started the 71/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle but wasn't getting into it so I took a break.

Thank you for the review! I was just contemplating this book. I'm big into WWII right now, so it fits with my current readings. I just finished listening to The Story of WWII by Donald L. Miller, now I'm onto Beyond Band of Brothers: The War Memoirs of Dick Winters. Just watched The Pacific and Band of Brothers as well. As for an actual book, I'm reading some rom-com type. It's decent and kept me up until 11:30 last night reading. I need something lighthearted to balance out all the WWII stuff I'm listening to and watching.

Let’s see, finished Armada and re-listening to Pride and Prejudice... my happy place. I just did a Pride and Prejudice marathon - re-read the book, watched the BBC series, watched the movie, watched all the Bridget Jones movies, watched the BBC series again. It was a good time!

The President is Missing. Meh. My book club leader picked it out. Not good? I keep looking at it but they want way too much money for it. Waiting to see if cheap used copies pop up on Amazon.

It wasn't bad. It's Patterson, everyone knows what you get there. It was entertaining, but occasionally I thought "there's a Clinton section".

I think I'm going to give up on the Woodward book Fear. It's just not an enjoyable read, I've been opting to play sudoku or watch Lost in Space every night instead. Girl Wash Your Face just came up on the waitlist at the library, and I want to read James Comey's book and some Condoleeza Rice before I see them speak in January.

I have read all the Sarah Addison Allen books and have enjoyed every one of them!
Last night I finished reading One Plus One byJoJo Moyes. It's from 2014 so I'm a bit late to the party, but I really liked it. It may be time to pick up You Before Me now that everyone else has read it.
Stephen King's novella Elevation was pretty good. I got it on audiobook and listened to it straight through on the day it came out. I think I'll go back and listen to it again a bit more slowly. I am a long-time King fan and I think I like his later works even better than his earlier books.
The Coffins of Little Hope by Timothy Schaffert was just meh. It ambled along amiably and wasn't too bad until the very last page. I went back and read it again just to make sure I didn't miss anything, but nope--that is just how it ended. The Last Midwife by Sandra Dallas was enjoyable. I like her books as a rule. The Persian Pickle Club is my favorite of hers. I'm a quilter and that was my original draw to it, but nonstitchers will enjoy it, too.

My hold on Fear just got fulfilled - I probably will hate it too, but wanted to reach outside my comfort zone. Just picked up my copy of "When we were young" by Karen Kingsbury who is my favorite author. Trying to decide which book to take on the cruise next week. Have Anne of Green Gables for DD10.

What is the secret to online free books? I signed up but had to validate with a credit card either Visa or Mastercard. MC is what I put in and was not accepted on both onswish and mediable. I tried inputting again on mediable and they said that e-mail address already used. Tried onswish and they said e-mail address already used. Put in another e-mail address, same cc not accepted to validate.

Artemis Windsong Does your library have e-books? Mine started, and I love it. I borrow books on my kindle, and never have to go to the library.

Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah - The ending is very unbelievable, but the details about WW1 and how the women deal with it are very heart breaking.

Sign up and tell them what categories you're interested in. I didn't need a CC to do it. I've never heard of those other sites. Also, just search free Kindle books on Amazon, you'll find a ton.

OMG this book is so bad... why do i feel compelled to finish it.... Sounds like me. I've stopped in the middle of 2 in my life and fought through some nonexistent editing in a 3rd. Everything else, I have been determined to finish.

I could read Da Vince Code in book form, loved it actually, because the premise was intriguing, even if the execution was flawed. But I got it on audio to listen with husband on a car trip, and man when you couldn't skim it was ... eek. We didn't finish it.

This one has so many holes and gaps in logic, i can't suspend disbelief and i want to drown the heroine myself most of the time. It also misuses language, too many flowery, unnecessary and distracting details and descriptions in an attempt to sound literary and not near enough attention to plot and character development beyond cliche.

I am on a nearly 50 year quest to read the Brothers Karamazov. I just can't do it. However, one of my kids decided a decade or so ago that if I only had a beautiful copy of the book...
Uhmmm, no!!!

That doesn’t sound right Artemis... I don’t know that site. Anne of Green Gables Justsome squashy fiction here. Finished soemth8ng called The Retreat, eh. Listening to All the Breaking Waves. Eh. Just requested Marilla of Green Gables - a new spin off. Hoping it's good. DD still can't seem to get into Anne of Green Gables which is disappointing. Unfortunately I think she's been sucked too far into the graphic novels that reading anything weightier feels like an extra chore. I may try to read the first couple of chapters out loud with her. A few months ago I made a rule that she could check out 5 comics and 5 regular books and no audiobooks at all. She's a voracious reader. This past library trip she was lazy and didn't round up all of her returns so I said she could only get 5 regular books. She was not happy, but did come home and find the missing ones to return next time. We usually have 50 items checked out at any given time. DD10 and DD6 each get 10 as do I. I usually pick up 5 more picture books because I can't stand to read my little pony or other fluff over and over. Then, we get a few movies and usually DD10 needs a book or two for homework. Plus, she uses the app to constantly keep her request queue full so I usually stop by the library and pick up what's ready 1-2/week -> 50 items checked out. Our tax dollars at work!

I’m listening to As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from Making of Princess Bride and The Professor and the Madman: A Tale of Murder, Insanity, and the Making of the Oxford English Dictionary.
I rarely listen to two alternately at the same time but I listened to the forward of as you wish and then THOught I continued it, but started the other... was very confused for a bit, lol. But it was so intriguing I kept at them both.
I’m text reading a Sandra Brown after which I found a Department Q book I hadn’t read, forgot about them actually! So I’ll do that next.
