AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott on Tuesday asked the State Guard to monitor a U.S. military training exercise dubbed "Jade Helm 15" amid Internet-fueled suspicions that the war simulation is really a hostile military takeover.
The request comes a day after more than 200 people packed a meeting in rural Bastrop County and questioned a U.S. Army commander about whether the government was planning to confiscate guns or implement martial law. Bastrop County Judge Paul Pape said "conspiracy theorists" and "fear mongers" had been in a frenzy.
Get a life morons.

Paranoid much it seems- I can't believe Abbott would bother with this, then again maybe I can.
BTW how can the US military take over TX considering it already part of the US

Good point- rational people would understand the economic benefit and a rational governor would be, well, rational.
But apparently they are all really stupid:
Finally though a face to put to some of these nutballs I think some people have been swimming in their own gene pool.

Just the sign speaks volumes- and the guy holding it is eating his notes- but it looks like he has an assault weapon T-shirt
Really- 200 of these morons was enough to convince the governor to send out the state guard- WTF really. Makes no sense at all. I doubt even Perry would do it and he is about as smart as a bag of smashed assholes.

How many morons ?

Wow- the stupid is strong with these folks:
Lt. Col. Mark Lastoria tried to assure the crowd that no intelligence would be gathered on non-participants, no property would be confiscated, and no psychological operations would be conducted.
The recent closing of five Walmart stores sparked fears that those stores would be converted into detention centers or link to underground tunnels to transport troops.
Most of the Jade 15 operations will take place on private property with the expressed approval of the landowner, although one participant asked why residents weren’t permitted to vote on it.“I don’t understand why you would vote on private land use,” Lastoria said.
The Army spokesman assured participants that the United Nations was not involved in the operations, but the crowd jeered when he told them he was not familiar with Agenda 21 – another conspiracy theory.
One man stood up to ask a series of increasingly specific questions about what would happen to protesters who disrupted Jade Helm exercises and whether the operations would be suspended. “I would find it bizarre that someone would violate someone’s private property to make a personal statement,” Lastoria said.

Texas is almost as strange as Florida.
But, c'mon...what would we be having a chuckle about otherwise.

i just went to lunch with my BIL, recently moved here from Idaho. in the small town he lived in, they dispatched the local sheriff to guard the town's earthen dam after 911 for fear that it might get blown up by terrorists. 24/7 dispatch that consumed basically 100% of the local law enforcement dollars to protect a couple hundred sheep and a few ranches owned by local conservatives.
this is a pretty accurate view of how the GOP wants to run things, imo.
