WTH? I just watched tonight's episode - very intense with Dr Derek Shepherd played by Patrick Dempsey, driving along the freeway. There's a major pile-up along the way, with several cars/injuries involved. It shows him tending to some of the victims roadside for about 3/4 of the show, but then his car gets struck. Suddenly the scene shows him lying in ICU on life support with his colleague and wife (Dr Meredith Grey) sitting at his bedside.
His vitals aren't looking good and she makes the decision to have the life-support disconnected as the nurse is standing there. She says a few words to him and then nods to the nurse who takes the tube out of his mouth.
The reading on the monitor drops to zero, and the show ends. I'm going to have to stop watching now that there's no more "Dr McDreamy". tvline.com/2015/04/23/greys-anatomy-derek-dies-patrick-dempsey-leaving-season-11-recap/#

I hate when shows loose most of the original cast. I stopped watching ER bc of that.
I get it that it's hard to keep coming up with the new plot lines for the same 10 characters, but killing off original members one by one completely changes the show.

I couldn't believe that either! How are we going to go on without him?! Thing 1 googled it and I guess he says he's not leaving, but his character has been written off. I guess that means he will be making cameos of flashbacks of Derek. Still! That's not cool! Bad enough that Christina is gone, Mark left a while back, and now Derek?!

I think it was a bad move to kill off Derek. You can kill off a lot of people on that show, but the three I would not touch would be Meredith, Derek, and Bailey.
I can suspend belief a lot for that show (I mean, plane crashes, gunmen, drownings, etc.), but I absolutely cannot believe that 1. There was not another fire truck or other police vehicle blocking vehicles from coming down that road until everyone was gone (the fire truck was still at the bottom of the hill), and 2. That Derek would be reaching for his phone when he said multiple times in the episode that there was no service on that road.
If they wanted to kill him off, fine, but give him a better send-off and more respect than that.

I think I would also add Richard to the list of the characters to keep. Then again, I never would have let Christina go either.

At least they didn't kill her though, so at least the door is kind of open for her to come back. Everyone else they just kill off!

They didn't kill Izzy, which was odd, since she made that whole speech about not getting good story line, etc
I think Patrick Demsey is off the show, I can't imagine they will do the soap-opera thing of bringing him back from the dead

All in all, the writing on Grey's Anatomy is usually great, but this episode it was quite terrible.
