Any other Golf enthusiasts watching?
"Youngster" Jordan Spieth is smokin' it on the long putts. Currently in 1st position.
Long-time Masters participant Ernie Els is no slouch either - in 3rd position.
A good mix of Masters alumni and some newcomers this year.
(Nice to see Tiger choking under pressure - I lost any respect for him I might have had a few years ago).

Tiger Woods is making a very sorry attempt at revamping his family man image by dragging his kids into the spotlight. It's a shame, because they are very young and have no say in the matter. Really, at that age, they should just be kids. But of course, Tiger has to redeem himself and be the center of the golf universe with the girlfriend and the kiddoes.
There's not much reason to respect Woods anymore. Then again, I'm not a fan of McIllroy, either, after what he did to his ex-fiance. Broken engagements I understand, but right after you send out the wedding invites? What a jerk.
Wouldn't mind seeing Mickelson snooker them all.

The Masters is one item I put on my bucket list. I have to figure out how to pay for a week's stay down there without going broke, and buy the tickets to get in for the week. I have watched the Masters since I was a kid, back in Arnold Palmer's heyday, and been hooked ever since. I know the media makes it like almost a "religious" experience, but darn, if it does not seem even the callous professionals hold this tournament dear to them.
The way the sunlight hits some of the holes in the late afternoon, with the birds in the trees calling to each other, make it an excellent experience.

Funny, but I flipped to the Golf Network to see LIVE FROM - have yet to see anyone hit a ball on the golf course - one player was shown hitting practice swing. What damn time do they tee off? Oh and flippped back again and all I see are talking heads - maybe at some point a golf match will break out ?? I don't watch start to finish but thought I might catch SOMEBODY hitting down the fairway? Oh, is the match being shown on another station? Confused part time golf watcher

Confused part time golf watcher Golf channel does not have the tv rights to broadcast the actual tournament, so they just report and show old footage, interviews, etc. I have been at Masters.com/cbs watching the live coverage streaming on my computer. Four cameras, covering Amen corner (3 holes) Holes 15 and 16 Featured group one Or featured group 2 Spieth was in this group. Set the 2 day low score record by one today, and is 14 under par. Charlie Hoffman is also having a great day today, but only at 10 under. Next score is only 5 under, but someone can still possibly beat that, later today ESPN is now covering the tournament live.

Thanks for the explanation. I just flipped on ESPN and see it's there. I just wanted to see someone hit the ball!!!! Didn't know that about golf channel though. They should have the menu read "live talking heads but no live golf"

Do not forget their famous pimento sandwiches!

Ya coulda used the spoiler feature. No spoiler alert necessary. Many players moved up the board this afternoon. Saturday is called "moving day' for a reason at the Masters. Someone, or several players make a move on Saturday. Spieth is only as good as his last 18 holes. I really hope Jordan Spieth does have a solid round Saturday, but if he is only even par tomorrow, he may not be leading by 6 pm Saturday. Dustin Johnson eagled 3 par 5's today setting the course record for eagles. In 79 years, no one has ever eagled 3 par 5's in a single round at Augusta. This was a feat!

I like speith. I like Phil. I like Tiger. I am glad to see him doing well, golf is much more exciting when he is playing well and is in contention.

I'm really pleased to see Spiel hanging onto the lead. The Masters (and PGA) is ready for some new pros that are good enough to make a name for themselves, and he's certainly showing his mettle as a novice Masters contender.
I'm also pleased to see Mickelson doing well. He's currently in 3rd. As one of the veterans, he's holding his own.
I think that Woods is losing his edge as a star player. He'll do well, but I don't think he handles pressure well anymore. He seems to buckle when he's having a bad day.
I think when he was the golden boy of golf, the media spent far too much time focusing only on him, and not paying attention to those who were equally as good and other golfers moving up in the ranks.
I don't think he makes golf more exciting. He's just one more player out there playing for the prize. Other golfers are just as equally skilled as he is.

Woods was great in his youth and was electrifying in his performance, but the media refused to look closely at the golden boy. Woods is still showing his temper around the course, when he mishits a shot. We should have an excellent afternoon on the course today. Justin Rose is looking tough, but he has struggled Friday and Saturday on the front nine. He has to come out and be aggressive on the front nine to get under Spieth's skin. Mickelson, we have to wait to see which golfer shows up today. Phil of Master's Sunday excellence, or Phil of Thursday's, let's play some personal mind games with myself and self destruct when he over thinks a shot. Charlie Hoffman. I did not realize it was the same golfer of several years ago without the long hair! I do not count him out today. He actually played a good round yesterday. Moving day Saturday is always interesting, as the players did move around. Spieth and Hoffman played well to defend their positions, but others played outstandingly well, to move into contention. As bad as Spieth was Saturday, he still holds the three day low round total for the Masters. His problem is, he has never won a tourney after leading the third day. Has to beat that stat. I could see Charlie Hoffman having a good round today, and the hot players yesterday cooling off. I am pulling for Spieth, and if not him, Hoffman or Mickelson. Michelson, only because I always liked him, and we are both lefties.

Ok, for me, personally, I find golf more exciting with Tiger in the mix. I got into golf when he was on top of the world so he will always be one of my favorites and I will enjoy watching him.
There are a lot worse people in other sports that people don't seem to give two shakes about.

I'm sooo glad Jordan Spieth took the Masters - not only took it, but took it by storm!
He also almost broke an all-time record for the tourney. Not bad for a 21-year-old. He played like a true gentleman, and always stayed focused and on his game - even under all that pressure.

Spieth is still holding a good lead. I hope the kid can do it. He did. Amazing composure from someone 21 years old. The blazer presentation showed how down to earth he is. CBS sure made a big deal of Spieth and McIllroy being the new face of the sport of golf. Mickelson and Rose both said they felt at the beginning of the week, if they had a 14 under par Sunday evening they would win it, so it shows just how strong Spieth was this week. Spieth missed the all time low Masters score when he bogied the 18th, but who could blame him. Tied Tiger's low score total of 270 and broke Michelson's record of 25 birdies, and was the lone leader from day one of the tourney, which had not happened in something like 35 years.

I'm not really a fan of the sport, but this time, it was fun to watch this kid pull it off. I do have a question, however.

I thought the presentation of the Masters green jacket was really strange. Done in a small room, not in front of the spectators? It seems kind of odd and anticlimactic to me. Why isn't the presentation done in public, on the 18th green, perhaps? Or does the winner have the choice of where the presentation is done?
Or does the winner have the choice of where the presentation is done? Surprise! They do the one in Butler Cabin for the CBS audience. A quick one, so CBS can get on with regular Sunday night programming. After that, they are out if front of the crowd as well as the club members, in lawn chairs, where the speeches are made, and the green jacket is issued to the winner. Jordan Spieth made a well accepted speech thanking everyone, he could think of, except, maybe his Master's mentor Ben Crenshaw. He might have mentioned Ben but I do not remember. Good speech. Maybe if you google the golf channel, it might be there to watch.

OK, makes sense, thanks. I just thought that if all those folks paid whatever huge money it costs to attend, they should at least see the presentation of the jacket.
