From The White House Blog website: quite a few pictures of former President Bush. Just not one that pleases 'some' people. For this one, it does not get more exclusive than this: President Obama delivers remarks at the foot of the Edmund Pettus Bridge. (Official White House Photo by Lawrence Jackson) Or this: Former President George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush participated in the program. (Official White House Photo by Pete Souza) And the explanation from professional photographer about the picture Bush is not in. Notice Bush is wiped washed out by the sun in the picture in reply #5 while Obama is in the shade in the other picture: "Just so you know, President Bush was not cropped out, he was not in that frame because he was so far to our right," Times photographer Doug Mills told Politico on Monday. "Technically, [the photo including the Bushes is] a bad picture, and [Mills] didn't even send it. [Bush] was totally overexposed," McNally said. Elsewhere, in an email to McNally, Mills said of the photos: Just so you know … at the time the photo was taken, I was using a 70-200 long zoom lens. I also had a remote camera with a wide-angle lens attached to the side of the truck that took a photo at the just about the exact moment as the tighter one. As you can see, Bush was in the bright sunlight. I did not even send this frame because it's very wide and super busy and Bush is super-overexposed because he was in the sun and Obama and the others are in the shade.New York Times explains leaving George W. Bush out of its Selma front page

This is supposed to be about the anniversary of a historic civil rights march and instead people have to turn it into an issue about a stupid photo.
Priorities people.

See what I mean about how whiny ass bitch the Repos have become. The photographer has to meet the outcry by explaining sunlight and lens tech to placate the drooling bleaters.
One funny comment I agree with the photog: Bush has been totally overexposed.

The only folks I see having a hard time with this being "one country" are those that have never accepted Obama. 25% of the repos think he's the anti-Christ, a huge lot fell for the birther scam that he was a Kenyan, many are positive he is a socialist and God only knows how many completely disregard him for the color of his skin or the fact he represents the miscegenation of the races.
commieblaster.com I'm glad to see that now in his second and last term that Obama is speaking out on race and it's problems in the States..Understandable completely by me why he was more low keyed his first term...believes he was necessary as a POTUS and wanted a second term..who among those folks don't feel the same way , thus had to show he was a President of all..now he is still a Ptesident of all but also the first man of color to sit in that big chair...I have no problem with that though I know some do...

Wow, and you worry about rightwingers......
What comments of Ms. Nash did you disagree with VB?
Did Bush start two violent wars? Check. Did Bush support torture? Check Did the stealing of the 2000 election through the hi-tech disenfranchisement of legit minority voters discolor the history of the Voting Rights Act of 1965? Checkmate. this is about someone who refuses to participate because they do not like someone, and taking their marbles and go home. My way or the highway.

My apologies. So let me re-write it; 'Very similar to those who are complaining why was president Bush not in the picture. Their way or the highway.'

Regardless of what reason the photographer gave, there was a picture released showing President Bush and Laura walking in the line. Just not from the White House originally.

I support Ms. Nash in her 'going home' if she doesn't feel comfortable with the torturer-In-Chief being there. That's free speech at it's finest!

She never said it was. It was about her expressing her right to dissent his photo-opping by refusing to associate. Afterall, she was there for the original march, stated why she was not going to march again, and left of her own free will. As she said...the march represented non-violence, peace, and acquiring voting rights. I have already listed her disagreements with Bush on all three accounts, as he doesn't.

Considering the Repos themselves have not even included BushCo. at the last two conventions, I suggest he continue to hide out in Texxass and stop pretending he is a big supporter of minority voting rights.. Although I loved the comments from the poster about how we will now being seeing Bush's everywhere, especially with people of color in photo ops, to support Jeb. Just better keep Granddaddy Bush away from the mics so as not to risk another "little brown ones" comment about his grandchildren.

are we seriously carrying on about a slight to the worst president in 90 years? gmafb. I think we are carrying on about whether there was even really a slight to him. And even if there was, is it somehow President Obama's fault.

It is sad and disturbing, but the fact that we have a biracial President who identifies as Black, has really brought out all the latent racism, that has never really gone away, to the fore. Why is that? I don't know. What I do know is that race is a bigger issue than it has ever been in my life.
You can create all sorts of gadgets (Apple are you listening) in decades, but human nature takes so much longer to change.
Having said that...the cops should stop policing in Black neighborhoods for a month or two and see where that goes?
It goes both ways.

Not at all..."I came of age" in the 80s. Maybe it is all the media attention lately on some cops who just seem to want to shoot to kill. Personally, nothing in my life or area has changed, but the national discourse has.

The original thread entry reported President Bush was not shown in the original WH entry on Sunday. The same photo was shown on the front page of the NY Times. This is just a simple reminder to members who continue to deny the facts.

This is just a simple reminder to members who continue to deny the facts. The article cited in the OP indicates that President Bush was shown in the original WH entry on Sunday. The White House blog does acknowledge in the caption that the Bushes were there, and the photo at the bottom of the page includes them off to the side. Your simple reminder is not fact.

It goes both ways. i think the reason is that the persistent Jim Crow, the SILENT Jim Crow of every day life for blacks, and the comfortable feeling that it gives to white folks of a certain type has been utterly obliterated by Obama. the racist world is punctured and bleeding slowly to death over the IDEA of him. i kinda wish he could stay president forever for that reason alone.

Nice to see that the white people oppression/reverse racism industry has somehow inserted itself into this. So I guess the 'real story' is not what happened in Selma decades ago, but what happened in the editing room of a newspaper and the conspiracy behind it. I really feel for my white brethren
