It's a blizzard down here and we have shoveled every hour for most of the day. I hate this.

karma is back! Woo! Sorry, beach. I know you guys are getting harder than we are. We're going to go out later and shovel our cars, as BF has to work in the morning and Miss Katt has a vet appointment at 9:45.

It snowed here too. Looks like we are going to spend another day at the In-laws.

I'm drinking! you almost made me spit prosecco back at my laptop screen. enjoy your vacation, I'm out the following week myself. I'm hoping that I get enough snow that I can work from home tomorrow. my little sporty car doesn't play well with the hills at either end of my street. lucky me. edit: to fix the ever-changing emo's....mods, please knock it off!

I swear getting snow dumped on us is my only Karma. I guess I should be happy that we aren't supposed to get 2 feet just 18 inches more or less. The wind is howling outside now. If it takes down more trees I am moving to some place that has less snow than us like Denver. I did get a bottle of vodka and wine for Christmas so I am set for a few days.

Argh! The office is closed today! I am NOT using a vacation today like originally planned; I'm now carrying that day over!

Don't ask how or why, but I made it to work. However, I am in the minority. At this point, 10 people out of the 35 in my department are here.

"But if I never had to see or deal with snow again, it would be just fine with me" That's why I decided never again...but here it's in the 50's so far and all are walking around like they are Nanook of the North, no disrespect to old Nanook.

meghan, I thought of you yesterday when I saw the news. We missed the snow on this side of the state. We've just got flurries, but it is damn cold here. Plus, we've had plenty of snow already this year. I'm ready for summer.

Apparently my office hasn't closed. The trains aren't running, neither are the buses, and the plow guy was telling me that the roads are still a mess.
As I was writing this, I just got email that the opening of the office is delayed "until further notice", which is code for don't show up.

If the trains or buses aren't running, and the roads aren't plowed, how would they expect you to get there?

They don't like to close, because then they have to pay emergency personal overtime. Instead we get delayed until tomorrow.

That was the very question I asked last winter when we got pummeled with snow. People who take public transportation got a free pass while the rest of us risked life and limb to get there or used personal days at the start of the year. It took me 3 hours to get to work one day, 2 hours the next and by the third day I had had enough and took a personal day. It was awful.

I didn't even attempt to go in. It wasn't fun, but I've driven in worse. My normal 45 minute commute became about 75 minutes, which was actually better than I expected. Our problem was our parking lot was buried, but we talked a sanitation plow to cut us enough of a path to get in and off the street. Looking back, I should have stayed home too.

I really felt like Homer at one point. About 2 miles from my job, I pulled into a gas station to try and fix my frozen windshield washer nozzles. Here I had completed 95% of my trip with no problems, and now I got stuck in the snow going into the station's driveway. I didn't panic, and it took a few minutes, but I worked my way out of the snow pile I was in.

Argh! The office is closed today! I am NOT using a vacation today like originally planned; I'm now carrying that day over! why is it bad for you to carry over a vacation day? No, it's not bad at all. I'm on vacation all week, so I'm just hoping that my boss will allow me to carry over what was supposed to be today's vacation day since the office is closed. I'm already carrying over one vacation day, so an extra day of rest sounds good to me!
