Hi! I need some help making a decision. I keep going around and around about whether or not to get a smartphone vs. tablet and a cheap cell phone. I currently pay $40 bucks a month on Virgin and my current phone which is a smartphone is dying a slow death so I need to make a decision fast. I also daydream about forgetting about the whole smartphone and tablet thing all together and going back to using a pc and flip phone for everything. Any suggestions?

Well, why do you think a tablet is a better idea? I have a tablet, but it doesn't have a data plan so I can only use it on WiFi. It's too big to always carry in my purse and I have little desire to always carry two electronics.

How good is your eyesight and how much stuff are you willing to carry around? Seriously, the phone screen is tiny, if you want to read a book, I don't recommend using it. I have and yeah, you can increase font size but it still sucks. Not all web pages will zoom big enough either. Is there a tablet you have in mind? Or maybe something that can do both laptop and tablet?

Thanks for the suggestions. I was more interested in the cheaper price for tablets than the smartphone data plans. I love to read and I feel I would miss the feel of books. I just want a smartphone for camera, music, facebook and lumosity. So it seems like I'm leaning towards a smartphone. Thanks! It helps to talk it out.

Then I say get a tablet. I have both, and hardly use my phone. I like the phone for the gps in the car though.

Tablets (with wi-fi) are great for sitting on the couch and wasting time (that can be a good thing). No need to be sitting in front of a desktop pc.

You might surprise yourself and like reading with a tablet better than the paper books.

I still read regular books, but I'm addicted to the iPad for everything else!

I loooove to read and thought that I'd hate reading on the Kindle but I don't. It has that nifty ability to make the print larger and all that so all those paperbacks I couldn't see... I can download a book NOW instead of having to schlep to the library to get one. I still get the regular ones too but I would say I do 90% of my reading on the Kindle now. Glad talking it out helped you make a decision!
