Sounds like a whiny, politically-correct lib: "If I don't like it, then NO ONE can have it..." ALL of them? That's kind of bigoted...and isn't up to who gets the votes, not racial quotas? We don't have racial quotas in congress (yet), though we do have racist organizations in congress (i.e. the Congressional Black Caucus)... Ed, you missed the point of the whole exchange between Burns and me. Read it and then maybe you can add something intelligent.

PLUS my comp blew up-- hard drive wiped clean-- while doing something comcast told me I HAVE to do. Crappy week, but the house is looking good... Can someone lead me to that thread about the problem? I'm on my daughter's friend's laptop, do not know how to work this moving your finger crap instead of a mouse, my favs are gone, I am lost... Thx

C'mon now Mr Burns you have to admit it you miss Diverdown34
A strange fellow he is Mr. Private Investigator. After blowing in like a hurricane he quickly dissipated into nothing but a brief breeze. I wonder whatever happened to the poor chap.

Anyway- you can't be a liberal, or a freeloader (redundant, I know) but
Pub dupes make the mistake of thinking if you feel compassion for the poor you have to be poor. Actually, for example, white people on welfare are Republicans as much as in the general population, rich people are Dems, same deal. ON THE OTHER HAND, dEMS HAVE BEEN FOUND TO HAVE iqS 10 POINTS HIGHER. ooops....

BTW Private Investigator might object to you having you call me his moniker....afterall he worked hard for that title and deserves it so Pls don't call me by his highly esteemed and well regarded name...that just might just taint his image somewhat...

Heh. Swamp, there will always be those who cannot imagine someone who is different than they might have new, and workable ideas to bring to the table. Afraid of anything they don't understand, they cower in fear at differences of opinion.

The strength of this country was built on differing views and consensus.Yes but not that differing. These were men of the same character and upbringing, not including people from vastly different backgrounds and beliefs ie: Muslims. You cannot have people within the decision process who are not relatively of the same stock as the founders and majority (apparently soon to be the minority) of citizens. Many of the men who founded this country were christian, but they made a point in many of their writings to talk about freedom of religion for all - including muslims & jews. www.loc.gov/loc/lcib/0205/tolerance.htmlThis country may have been built partly on christian principles, but it was also built on the idea that we all have the right to be here & the freedom to choose our own religion.

It's not so much hearing people agree with me. With liberals, conversations often start and proceed as though we don't already KNOW certain things. For example, can you see how frustrating it would be to have a conversation with someone about watching the sun rise in the east this morning and how beautiful it was, and instead of the response being- awesome! can you post pictures; it was, "That's bullshit. The sun doesn't rise in the east...".
It's primarily a conservative "Your Money" site-- hence the name, RIGHT WING WEALTH. It's nice to begin a conversation about my business, investing, management and what have you with the basic facts surrounding those things having already been established.
It's not about echo chamber, group think, or any of that as it is a group of people that begin with a common understanding of "the way things work". We accept classical liberalism, and judeao Christian western culture as having been well established. We don't have to begin a conversation about whether or not our tenants can, or are going to be permitted to place an "Obama" sign in in the front yard with a discussion of the right to the private ownership of property that dates back to the Magna Carta, or even just back to John Locke, and our own Declaration of Independence.
Here, we are still discussing silly things like whether or not national health care works or not- we know it doesn't. We don't have to debate it. It has been tried, and it failed. To the extent I engage in these threads, my purpose is to hopefully persuade a person here and there, to head off the brain washing of the uninformed so they can actually hear the arguments and think for themselves; and yes-- to challenge my own beliefs and see if my arguments can stand up to the challenges. They always do.
There, we start with a basic foundation-- a fully formed world view that stems from the knowledge that of all the ideas tried in the crucible of history, the idea that the individual is sovereign, and the government is merely the agent of the individual, government's only legitimate charge is to protect the individual's right to do anything that is non-violent, and otherwise leave the individual alone. We know that ideas that begin with the premise that an all powerful government that is the master of the individual is a failed notion. We don't have to debate it.

It's not an echo chamber but to register you have to kowtow to some idiots idea that Reagan was the greatest President of the 20th century? I have trouble understanding the Reagan worship, he was a liberal plain and simple.

No, it's more like every once in awhile it's irritating to think about the fact that we may have reached the point in our republic where the ignorant and stupid out-number the critical thinkers; and enough of the ignorant and stupid have been gerrymandered into districts that they now have enough representatives that the survival of our nation is at stake. We like to forget about you folks for awhile and have an adult conversation.

It's not so much hearing people agree with me. So it is about having dicussions with people who agree with you on all the major issues. The thing is you don't have all the answers, even on all the major issues. Thinking you have all the answers & the rest of us are just morons is ridiculous. I know I don't have all the answers & learn a lot from people with different views on here. Anyone that claims to know the answers to everything is wrong just by the simple fact that there are a lot of gray areas in life. Politics, religion, etc, isn't just black & white & there can be times when both you & your opponent are right. If you really just post on here to educate the rest of us, then don't bother. I don't want an education from someone that believes they know everything & that they already have all the answers, because only a fool would believe that.

I can see why some of you might be feeling a little defensive right now. Let me assure you, there's no need to be. I'm a kind and gentle instructor. I will always teach with grace, and try as hard as I can to help you maintain your dignity- often in spite of yourself.

Jesse Jackson, Jr. sounds ridiculous above. Most of you would agree. The problem I have is that most of you agree with him. Oh, you might not articulate your thoughts the same way-- but there's very little he said, that if proposed, you would not support. Based on that, it's increasingly difficult to have a reasonable discussion with liberals and Democrats. The left has drifted very far left-- but if we're all being more honest, the left has simply taken off the mask. People like me know who you really are-- we've always known. And the reason the far left Democratic Party is losing independents is that they now know you, too... "Under Socialism, you would not be allowed to be poor. You would be forcibly fed, clothed, lodged, taught, and employed whether you liked it or not. If it were discovered that you had not character and industry enough to be worth all this trouble, you might possibly be executed in a kindly manner; but whilst you were permitted to live, you would have to live well." -- George Bernard Shaw, extreme kook Fabian Socialist.
