After reading about how a silly complaint could have the board shut down, it might not be a bad idea to have a few other sites in my back pocket. Anybody know of any good sites similar to this one? I'd hate to come on here one day and find out it was deleted.

Um, WHAT?!? Can you give details on the complaint, how the ProBoards TOS were violated? What grounds do they have to shut us down? Anyway- you can't be a liberal, or a freeloader (redundant, I know) but www.rightwingwealth.com is a great new site. To avoid BS like this, and to really get down to business, they've made it a membership (you have to pay to join) and they've outright banned liberals. Liberals can join, but they get booted-- no refunds-- so they generally do not join.

notmsnmoney.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=fun&action=display&thread=4388I don't think they are going to shut us down, but you can read more on the "Proboards - Cease and Desist" thread. It just got me to thinking that if they ever do try to do that for some reason, it might be a good idea to have some other boards too. As to the board you mentioned, can't say I'm really into paying when I am guessing there are free boards. I also like having different opionions as well.

"outright banned liberals." Just what some need, a mutual self congratulating society, telling each other how brillient they all are. Sounds just like something the conservatives would be most comfortable with....like Momma telling them what good little kids they are...after they were caught lighting matches behind the couch, just misunderstood.

At least they can have some intelligent conversations and discuss ideas, instead of getting sidetracked with psycho-babble and feel go happy horse-s**t.

How does a different opinion qualify as "psycho-babble and feel go happy horse-s**t"?
It really frightens me that seemingly intelligent people refuse to consider any opinion outside their little echo chamber.

Actually on the spelling, I believe your referring to me, I use spell check all the time and if you point out a mistake, it's either the fault of that option, though I find this one we have one of the better ones or possible forgot , and if a word really bothers you, I will be glad to correct it. Actually on this post, there were none misspelled.

It frightens me even more when I see replies such as this. The US is in the shape it is in because we think we have to listen to and consider BS. NYC lost the waterfront development at Hunter's Point, that would have been an economic boom for the area, and 100s of jobs, because of happy-horse s**t.

I'm generally on the liberal side of things, but I don't see myself at all in the whackadoodle descriptions of liberals given on this board. I'm hoping by posting here, people with differing opinions from mine can see that I'm a productive citizen trying to raise my kids to be good people, not that I'm some weirdo radical that expects everyone else to take care of me. I'm asking too much, aren't I?

The reason you don't see yourself that way is because most of the people who are waxing eloquent on what liberals believe don't have the foggiest idea what they're talking about. ;D

WTH are you talking about?
I am talking about proposals to build a big business center in Hunter's Point in NYC, that the kibosh was put on because some local politico's got their panties twisted because some of the potential staff would be min wage earners. The entire project was scrapped, 100s of jobs gone...
Sheesh, cant you figure this out? It is elementary.

I could if I cared to look it up, but since you posted about it, the onus is on you to give the basic details of what you're talking about. Not everyone is up on what's happening in the world of NYC land development.

I might also add that NYC doesn't comprise the totality of the universe.

Nah, I live in NJ and the universe is the universe which is quite a bit bigger than NYC. I am disappointed that SF and PBP agree that intelligent conversation apparently is people sitting around discussing what they all agree on. The strength of this country was built on differing views and consensus. Do you really think all the signers of the Constitution were 100% behind everything in it and 100% happy with what was dropped?

I think discussion of different idea and compromise by the drafters of the constitution is why we ended up with a 2 chamber legislative branch, the checks and balances of the 3 branches, and the whole slaves being 3/5 of a person thing.............I could be wrong, though........

Whoever complained about the adult board is an asshole. I don't go there, because it is not really my thing, but the board made perfectly clear what it is, and if someone signed up on it to get offended and then try to shut us down-- very nasty thing to do.

Krickett, the AC board was collateral damage. It's my understanding the person complained about persistent sexism on the board and the mods nonresponsiveness to the complaints, and when proboards reviewed the site, they saw the AC board and required it be shut down. But I agree with you the person is an asshole. If they're that unhappy with the boards and the moderating, they're free to leave, and not let the door hit them in the ass on the way out.

Yes but not that differing. These were men of the same character and upbringing, not including people from vastly different backgrounds and beliefs ie: Muslims. You cannot have people within the decision process who are not relatively of the same stock as the founders and majority (apparently soon to be the minority) of citizens.

OK, so when should we replace the old white fat dudes in congress with Hispanics?
