My 4 yr. old LG refrigerator has bit the dust. It can't be fixed. While dealing with Sears repair ( who has now made me a life long Sears hater) and with LG it is a sure bet that I do not want another LG and nothing with Sears name will ever come in my house again, I have to buy another fridge. So I need ideas as to what brands everyone here has and whether or not they would buy that brand again. thanks

My Amana is about 23 and should be replaced soon. I am looking at French Door but haven't found any I like. We like ice and he loves crushed ice so that is important to us but I hate giving up the frig space for ice making and the ones in the freezer won't crush the ice. They all have tiny shelf space since they decided to put gallon milk size bins on the doors. This reduces the regular shelves and makes stuff in the door fall over. Gallons in the door seem to be great for families with milk drinkers but not for those of us the seldom own a gallon of milk.
Seems like a 4 year old should still be new, they used to last more than 25 years. I think Samsung is a good brand now but not Maytag. I have never been a fan of Frigidaire, Whirlpool or Hotpoint.

I had a sub zero which came with the house when we bought it. When it died, I was shocked at the cost to replace! We ended up finding a GE Profile in the "scratch & dent" corner of a local appliance store. Got an awesome deal on it, bought the door inserts to match our cabinets, and you can't tell it was a "dinged up" model...We've had it for about 6 years now with no problems. It is a side by side, and I wish there was more room in the freezer side. I do like those new French Door models!

I have a Samsung French door fridge and love it! I've had it about six months and haven't had any issues with it. I've talked to a couple of other people who've had the GE Profile series and they didn't like them. We did a bunch of research before we bought this one and are very satisfied.
Good luck!

They had some cash-for-appliance program last year so we replaced a still-functioning Kenmore that I got at Sears when I bought my first house. It was too small and the icemaker leaked if it ever had to make ice (leave the ice alone and leave it full and no leak). I tried to have it repaired a couple of times.
We bought a nice 26 cubic inch Whirlpool that is side-by-side. We are pretty pleased with it although the racks on the door to the freezer are too small to be very functional. We use them to store frozen ice packets for coolers, etc.
Anyway, on sale (with free delivery & haul away although we gave ours to a needy person) plus a 10% coupon plus the rebate plus the 10% off because the delivery guy noticed a small scratch plus the 5% cashback on my credit card that month . . . we spent about $450 for a refrigerator priced at $1100+.
We did have to order a replacement water filter last night. We only bought it in June. Whirlpool does have an automatic filter replacement plan where they send you a new one every six months (you select the interval). There's no obligation to continue and they give you a $5 discount and free shipping. Lowe's did not carry the replacement filters.

We have a GE Profile. I don't have any heartburn with it, but we know it won't last forever and wanted to move it to the garage. We did our research and wanted to replace it with a Samsung French door, only to find that the only "black" that they offered was a "brushed black" and would look funky with our other appliances. It surprises me that Samsung does not have a regular black finish so that people who already have black appliances can buy a Samsung to semi-match what they already have. We recently replaced the dishwasher. Had a Bausch and bought another Bausch and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it.

i;m not sure about brand, but in terms of style, I really like the old "freezer on top" thing.
I had a side-by-side, and while the ice dispenser was nice, I hated how narrow the shelves were. The fridge couldn't hold veggie platters for parties and the darn freezer couldn't even hold a large frozen pizza.
I also had a "freezer on the bottom". It was really hard to see stuff, you had to basically unpack the thing if what you wanted wasn't right on top, and I was always forgetting what I had.
I have the older style now. I love it and it was much cheaper anyhow.
