Here is a real-life mystery for you. This morning I noticed an envelope in our mailbox but I had a appt so I left it. I brought it in this afternoon. No name, no address, no stamp, no return address so it had obviously been delivered by hand.
The contents? a woman's Swatch watch (loose, not new and in packaging), a Breathalyzer test, a car-type badge (no known brand), a little iPad instruction booklet, and a photocopied poem about ... the Knights of the Round Table.
I asked my next door neighbor and DS2 if it could be for them, they both said no. I also texted a friend who lives a long block away, on a parallel street. (People sometimes get our houses mixed up, because we both live in the first house on the right of a narrow street that goes down to the village, on opposite sides of the same residence.) No answer from her yet. (I'm not even sure I have the right number for her, but I can get it.)

It just seems like such a strange, random assortment of objects, it's cracking us up lol.

Hmmm. The watch could mean "time for", the Breathalyzer "drinks", & maybe some other Sherlock-type poster here can figure out the rest...

When toddlers and preschoolers, my kids used to give DH and I "gifts" of an assortment of random, odd (and sometimes yucky) things (toys, household objects, pieces of string, found "treasures").
Maybe it was young child in the neighborhood who thought you might enjoy the items in the gift?

Maybe ... but I hope he or she didn't take their mom's watch lol!
Tomorrow I'll check with a mutual friend and make sure I have the right phone number for the woman on the other street.

It was the right phone number, and no, the envelope was not meant for my friend on the other, parallel street.
I guess I'll just hang onto it and see if somebody puts a letter in my mailbox asking for it back!

Without a name on the envelope or sender's name or address, I wouldn't have opened it or taken it into my house. With all the stories you hear about letter-bombs or people sending mail containing other harmful substances, it isn't worth the risk.
(Though a nice Swatch if it was still working would be nice).
Thank goodness we have super-boxes in my neighborhood.
No home delivery. The boxes are located every block or two, and and you're assigned a cubicle # for your address and two keys for residents to use for access to your box to collect mail. The larger boxes on the lft are for oversized envelopes..

Oh, I'm not worried about that. And I'm glad my mail gets delivered to my house, I'd find it a PITA to have to go get it a few blocks away.

That's really wild. It does sorta sound like items for a scavenger hunt but what they were doing in your mailbox is surely a mystery! Now, you've got all of us hooked so I hope you find out who left it and why!

Perhaps an attempt to removed estate items. Did you dust for finger prints and get DNA from the breathalizer? Could that be a hint you are into the cooking sherry too much? Into the Mail Box as the drama turns. It is time for the Knights of the Round Table to take a breathalizer test then record it in the notebook before heading out to do the Knights' thing.

I was thinking the Knights of the Round Table referred to "your knight in shining armor". But, I'm not sure about the rest...

Crazy cakes!!! Keep us posted.
How does someone besides the police have a breathalizer? (further indication that I;m the most boring person ever.)

Was the watch stopped at a certain time? Maybe meaning drinks at my pad at 8:00? From your Knight?

I was thinking spies, and your grabbing the envelope screwed up their plans!
