Some counties aren't issuing licenses, just taking applications. Makes me sick to be from the same state as some of these idiots.

I believe the legal debate is over. I agree but it looks like Judge Roy Moore is going to keep on fighting. From www.slate.com/blogs/outward/2015/02/09/alabama_s_roy_moore_defies_federal_court_order_on_gay_marriage.htmlIn a stunning display of defiance against the judiciary, the U.S. Constitution, and the fundamental rule of law, on Sunday night Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore forbade probate judges from issuing marriage licenses to gay couples. Moore’s interdiction explicitly flouts a federal court order requiring the state to begin recognizing same-sex marriages on Monday, a decision the Supreme Court declined to put on hold. Because probate judges are tasked with issuing marriage licenses, Moore has effectively blocked the clear command of the federal judiciary.

Ahh, Judge Roy Moore, George Wallace reincarnated. This is the same genius that thought it was ok to put a giant Ten Commandments monument in the state courthouse.

Moore better be careful or the Alabama Court of the Judiciary will remove him from his position again.

Fortunately, some counties in Alabama have ignored him. Licenses are being issued and marriages have been and are being performed today.

I have always said if you want to end gay sex you should support gay marriage.

I swear that's how some of the morons think it works Pathetic, isn't it. Very. I've done all I can to avoid the news lately and it still annoys the crap out of me. I should probably hide this mess in my Facebook feed but now and then something interesting shows up on the news page aside from this. Can't wait until they're done fighting over this.

I believe the legal debate is over. i think it has been over for a while. if the district court had not dissented, there would be no legal standing for those opposed whatsoever.

It's a close call to whether they think so or not, it really is. But only amongst the "enlightened" nay- sayers right? I thought the other nay-sayers are still stuck on the "this is a lifestyle choice" train Most of the nay sayers I've seen are of the Bible thumping variety or the good old boy redneck variety. Neither are big on education. I can't say for sure if they really and truly think that since I limit my exposure to them as much as possible.
