Sweet story but I was stopped short when I read about the "Three Part Interview" for Chick a flick. Since he's 15 I'm assuming it's a line position not management.

Chick Fil A is the chicken restaurant that refused to pay for all the insurance in Obama care because the owners don't believe in all forms of birth control mandated.

Yes but Chick Fil A has the nicest, politest line people. That & they have NEVER screwed up an order for anyone I know. I can't say that for any other fast food place. They must vet their potential hires pretty well. I read somewhere they also want them to be active in their communities but I don't know that for a fact.

I agree that I've never run into a surly employee at Chik-Fil-A. And I've been eating there since I was a teenager. Nor have I ever had an order screwed up, even large orders. This was a nice story. It's good to be reminded that some people are willing to take a few moments out of their day to try to be helpful/supportive and encourage a stranger that's doing something constructive.

Their people ARE nice, you do notice a much better attitude from their employees than most fast food places.
On the down side, they are kind of expensive compared to most similar places, and you can't get refills on your drinks.
They did screw up my order once. I asked for two chicken sandwiches and fries (meaning two sandwich and one thing of fries) but they gave me two fries instead.
But yes, three interviews is a bit much I would think.

Must be ours, but I can't avoid getting a refill! They are constantly walking the dining room asking if anyone needs a refill.

And, I love that certain stores will allow you to purchase your meal through the drive-through and ask for it to be set up at a table. Then you pay, go in & sit down and your food is already waiting for you. SO helpful when I am by myself and trying to wrangle in the kids.

Maybe the refills thing is location specific? At the one closest to my work there's always someone going around the dining area taking trays and offering refills.

Not that I'd ever really need to use this service but it sounds great for your situation with the kids. When our drive thru is busy they have employees outside with lap tops taking orders to make the line go faster. Today they had a kid set up to take your payment before you get to the window so when you get there they just hand you the food. Yes this thread made me want chick fil a.

Um, the kid applying for a job was a minority. They're also closed on Sunday's and they give scholarships to college for their employees. They are expensive, I think, but most people like their food and their employees are clean, polite, and speak clearly.

Usually I only go to Chik Fil A after a hard day at work and I don't feel like cooking, so by then I'm usually pretty spacy. Or maybe I just look mean and unapproachable, who knows?

Chick-Fil-A is the restaurant that refused to hire homosexuals because of the religious beliefs of the founder. They were boycotted because he was contributing to those 'pro-family' groups that believe in 'conversion therapy' where you scare the gays back into straightdom They're an interesting deal. They have one of the lowest franchise fees, something like $5k, so if you want to own your own business, it is a terrific opportunity. The interview process to become a franchisee is lengthly. Your religious beliefs are a big part of the equation, per an interview I read years ago. If you become a franchisee, you will work 60-80 hrs a week and earn $100k a year. Chick-Fil-A still owns the real estate and the physical restaurant. For some people, though, this represents a terrific opportunity. I don't believe in their particular brand of religious extremism, though, so I'm not their target audience for those opportunities.

They hired the guy wearing the tie from target. Cynically, my first thought was "they needed some nice publicity."

I may be mistaken because it has been a while since I went to one, but my memory is that while they are more than McDs or Wendy's it isn't that much. They are less than Culvers, Freddy's and Braums (and their food is more in line with those 3). Depending on what you get, they are cheaper than Sonic.

The young man was this week's ABC Evening News Person of the Week and the Target employees were also included in the piece.

Because a middle-aged target employee is clearly a terrific source of career advice.
