I am sure race has nothing to do with it but:
www.alternet.org/news-amp-politics/kevin-davis-called-cops-help-out-friend-trouble-and-was-shot-death-police-his?akid=12725.1084699.TcGMcl&rd=1&src=newsletter1030979&t=7
Hilyard stabbed Edwards with a kitchen knife and fled the scene. Davis promptly called 911 for help. DeKalb County Police were dispatched, and Officer Joseph Pitts was first to arrive on scene. Per three witness accounts, Officer Pitts did not announce his arrival or identify himself. He entered the home to find the couple’s three-legged dog, Tooter, whom he shot and killed. Upon hearing shots, Davis became alarmed that his girlfriend’s assailant might have returned with a gun. He retrieved his own gun, proceeded to the front room of his home and was shot twice by Officer Pitts.
Both Edwards and neighbors on the scene claim they did not hear Officer Pitts order Davis to put down his weapon before hearing gunshots. Police have stated that Davis was told to drop his firearm, and refused to do so.
A second officer arrived on the scene. Davis, prone, said he was unable to feel his legs. He was arrested, charged with aggravated assault of a police officer, and transferred to Grady Hospital in downtown Atlanta in police custody. Hilyard, the roommate and attacker, was apprehended and arrested for the assault on Edwards. Edwards was transported to emergency care, her wounds having punctured an artery in her right arm
Over the next two days, during his stay at the hospital, Davis’s family made numerous attempts to speak with him, both in person and over the phone, but they were denied by police, who said he was “in police custody.” Davis was not allowed to have outside contact, which reportedly evoked frustration on behalf of attending doctors. The family has said they were repeatedly blocked from seeing Davis until they were notified, without condolences, that he had “expired.”
So what might have been a legitimate mistake turns into an instant cover-up and thuggish actions by an entire department. Whoever kept the family from seeing that man should be fired yesterday. Guess we don't get to hear his version of events either.
So what might have been a legitimate mistake instead looks like a cover up-

We had some people call 911 for a domestic disturbance. This is what happened.
Police in Cornwall, Ont. are being commended for buying back a senior's wedding ring after he pawned it so he could afford groceries, The Cornwall Seaway News reported Monday. Officers were called to a home over the weekend where an elderly couple was arguing. They soon learned the man's wife was living with dementia. And after 54 years of marriage, he was having trouble affording food and caring for her at the same time. Police stepped up for the couple in a big way. They pooled $150 out of their own pockets to buy groceries, and an additional $130 to buy back the ring.

No- just the ones that shit on our rights and the departments that over react and do stupid things like this one did. I didn't seek out the story-it was in the news and I expect you will be hearing more about it-in this case it is not near as much as what the officer did is what happened after. I am sure the information will come out on how bad the responding officer screwed up- after all he came in guns out when dispatch should have told him that the person (who used a knife) had fled the residence. Maybe it doesn't bother you but I would like to think that if I need to call the cops I am not going to be the one getting shot or going to jail- no wonder people do not trust the police when they continuously do things like this.
My God, they didn't even let the family see the man and let him die because they were more worried about covering their own asses. You don't think that is newsworthy considering the current state of relations between the public and the police?

Not all cops are horrible people.
Not all Muslims are terrorists. So where are all the good cops speaking out about the bad ones?
I also noticed those were Canadian cops that did that

This is deplorable, and I hope a fair and unbiased investigation is done.

You don't think that is newsworthy considering the current state of relations between the public and the police? Yes this is horrible and should be investigated. However I'm not sure the current state of relations between the public and the police are uniform. This was in Georgia. The police are different people in every town, every state, every city.
Isolated examples make news because thankfully they are not the norm. I wish the family had thought to seek out news media and politicians before he passed to get around the police run around. If he had never invited this guy into his home, this situation could not have even happened. It was a chain of unfortunate events. Who expects someone you invite to live with you to stab someone in the household just because they are angry? Did the police not call out? Did he miss it because he walked out of ear shot when he got the gun? We don't know. Bad behavior by one police department can only be owned by those who do it, not all those who do not. RIP for this guy.

Yes, American Cops suck and Canadian Cops are great humanitarians. I didn't say that. YOU said that. I didn't mention Canadian vs American at all. All I said was that not all cops are horrible people. It doesn't matter which of the two countries they're in.

Haven't we had enough "police suck and we aren't allowed to own guns" threads?! It's getting old.

I am sure you are going to point me to the 'we aren't allowed to own guns' part of this or other threads suggesting that right? Out of control police behavior is getting old too- maybe they should quit making news by doing stupid and horrible things to innocent people.

Here in our berg the police shot a short-leashed dog while it was being removed from the room. The person at the residence was there to water and feed the animal while the owner was gone.
The newspaper made it appear the house occupants were in the wrong.

The vast majority of your threads have to do with freedom to own guns and police brutality. Not all cops are bad and not all people should be allowed to carry a gun. I think you are mistaken- I post a lot of gun threads and some just happen to involve police- I think Virgil had a number or something at one point about it- but not much on freedom to own weapons since I have no problem with it. The vast majority of my gun threads involve unarmed people getting shot, questionable self-defense claims, children killed without consequences for the people that allowed it happen, the lowlifes at the NRA and gun nuts that open carry, intentionally intimidate people and treat their weapon as a fashion accessory. What can I say- the whole gun culture in this country is interesting to me.
I am also quite sure you can find in those threads that I never take an anti-cop view, or a cops are bad view, just that some of them are. And they rightly should be called out every time- like this one. Do you not think this was one of them?

Why don't you also call them out when they do something good? Maybe find a positive subject. Find something other than complaining to do. Are you one of those people IRL that is never satisfied and is always complaining? I sure hope not.

I need to praise people for being professional and doing the jobs they are being paid to do?
I use this board to discuss divisive issues and to let out the frustration I have on others- I like to get it off my chest so to speak and not do any 'complaining' at work, at home, etc. If I didn't want to complain about some stuff I would be posting in the kittens and puppies thread- not politics or its spinoff.
And of course I am not 'never satisfied and always complaining'- I am a guy

Of course there will be an investigation, by the police themselves.
With out hearing another word , I can tell what the answer will be.
