You mean like Europe? The land where unemployment percentages could double as highway speed limits, native populations are shrinking so rapidly that unassimilated first-generation immigrants are set to become majority nation states in the span of a generation, a shaky coalition of insolvent countries is held together by a lone producing nation, and governments are so corrupt that secessionist movements with 10%, 20%, even 30% popular support are popping up like daisies? Yeah, I guess they are further to the left than the US. Or Canada - their public healthcare system & year-long, paid maternity leaves puts them further left than the US as well. you have to go to third world shitholes to find worse healthcare systems than the US.

Might be true, but then we are number one for a reason Number One in what, exactly? per capita spending on healthcare, national GDP, and the size of our military.
in virtually every other category, we are among the lowest of any developed nation.

Maybe, but the American Century is over. Spoken like a true Dem. As long as we coddle the non-productive and let them live off the 1 percenters, it might be true, but I think we shall see a slowdown in give aways.
i would argue that we coddled them far more in 1970 than today. if you think otherwise, i would like to see your justification for that.

Canada isn't as far left as most Americans think it is. It's left of America, yes, but nowhere near as far left as Europe. Quebec would be about halfway between the rest of Canada and Europe.

Stumbled on this looking see where countries might lie on the spectrum:
Worth a look anyway.

This Republican was a hard-on that weekend. Aaah, Sarah. The epitome of class and grace. On her way to another drunken brawl in the street, no doubt.

...and look at the adorable crosshairs in the "Moore". I guess the concept of free speech only applies to speech you agree with. Otherwise, you should be shot.

Some Repos, even regular posters here, revere that atrocious bimbo. It's rumored they use her voice to cut the holes for ice fishing.

Worth a look anyway. Why? It's not even close to accurate. Especially "telling" about how wrong it is... look near the right and left sides of the image: "Interfere" and "Dont interfere" are backwards. The first listed "beliefs" (religion) is backwards as well. (compared to the Parties listed at the top anyway)

She was an excellent example of why we should all question the repo mindset.

I used to like McCain. Then he chose that ridiculous twit. That killed it. Whether she was in any way "forced" upon him or not, I cannot any longer respect him because of actually doing it.
Somewhat reminiscent of when it was announced that Reagan had Alzheimer's. Many people were not surprised. I had the not-so-fleeting thought that Palin might be a sign of it in McCain.

I can't remember the exact phrase, but Tom Lehrer once said something like "Kissinger winning the Nobel Peace Prize is proof positive that satire is dead"

I believe she was not forced on him...His campaign was going nowhere...the far right ..the very religous were staying home...not being active in his campaign ..While not going over to the Dems they might as well have done so...they were not going to vote, contribute... I remember one news event ..media got a group from a church , Georgia I believe, together in a question and answer segment and it came out that almost 100 % of this group..granted a small sample...were basically so unhappy with McCain they were not voting at all..not sending in campaign contributions...When it was mentioned about Palin possible being on the ticket there was a complete change around...all were now voting , supporting and contributing toward. The problem, IMHO, was that due diligence was not done on her..possible because of time constraints..decision had to be made...and when the negatives were found out on her, it was to late to do anything about it..plus she wasn't the greatest on following orders ...even suggestions...
